As far as products go, it seems that people are more concerned about the money than the quality of the piece. Furniture is shoddy and cheap and we're buying it up because of that. Everything is put together in a hurry, at the cheapest rate possible, with the least expensive materials and because of the price tons of them will sell. Sort of the same thing with music. It's being accepted. Use a beat and not have to pay a band. More money in the bank and when that singer fizzles out, big deal, dress up a new one and throw them out there. If your options are crap, it gets tiring to try and find the quality in there somewhere, and eventually you have to take the best of the crap you can find. I agree....You do have little to choose from...but like you said you do get tired of looking for quality but some just don't bother even looking. That is what I don't get....At least try.... Maybe some care more about quanity rather than quality? I don't know...  | |

Better threads, more creativity ect...ect...This is based solely on their perceptions....For some peeps things back then sucked ass compared to now....and this topic will always have it's naysayers and those who believe times were better. My point is why don't people realize that if you stop accepting inferior things and people that eventually the quality as a whole will improve? Once those bringing crappy efforts to the table see that "That's not gonna work" then they will either quit and someone more qualified will step up, or they themselves will improve. excellent thread. seriously.
it asks a very good question. in life in general (& on the org in particular) the sad thing is, after someone asks a legitimate question like this very little - if anything - changes because once a standard gets lowered (=people accept "more crap") then it's VERY difficult to raise that standard again. I have the answer for crap movies: they are all made for adolescent boys nowadays, and have to gross millions in the opening weekend. actually that doesn't answer your question, though  why do we accept it? because there isn't much alternative. Crap men? again, by the time a woman has done the career thing and is ready to settle down, not so many fellas to choose from. As far as music goes, well, it seems people would rather listen to some new crap than something which they don't know either, but is old. Sinister, it's cool that you put something like this out in the forum.. you know how some people try to peg you as a "photo whore" or "attention whore" or a "fill-in-the-blank whore".. a thread like this shows those (who don't already know) that you can put out something like this. then, while you may not be here to change or convert people to your way of thinking, a thread like this minimally will give those who read it something to think about, or a chance to (re)examine their own way of thinking on the subject. this is a good thing. I had another thought on this topic (& someone else may have touched on this before me now) : the "convenient" thing about "accepting crap" is that it requires less thought & less effort & less time, & it goes along perfectly with this attitude of "instant gratification" that many of us (with short attention spans) have. again, a solid thread here. I'll see you tonight..
