Really Scary! Please read! I have this friend who has an 11-year old son in the Psych Ward in a local hospital right now because some little kid at school gave him Ecstacy! Apparently, the kid told my friends son that he had "candy"
It's unknown how much "candy" he had, but evidently it was enough to mess him up. His mom said that he completely wrecked her house...broke all the dishes and the tables, flipped over the couches and chairs, ripped everything off the walls! She said he was screaming at the top of his lungs and she didn't know what to do, so she called the ambulance. Right now, he is in and out of conciousness, but has said to his mom that some kid gave him something at school. How sad and scary! Where on earth did an 11 year old get ecstacy from and why would he give it to someone else? I think it's still unclear as to who the little drug dealer is, but I hope they catch him before he gives some more away! Please talk to your kids about this! Don't let them take "candy" from others! Apparently, not only are strangers dangerous, but so are your so-called friends! Smooches;)

I hope your friends son recovers fully and that he maybe learned a valuable lesson The whole thing sounds like a horrible accident to me, where children got hold of a substance they are not supposed to hay kid: mommy whats that mom: Its mommys candie DON'T touch kid thinks hmmm mommys candy i want some and I'll share my naughtiness with my friend. but saying that i know of 12 year olds who are injecting heroin so maybe it's not so innocent terrible terrible thing to happen

How can anyone protect his children when those things are happening at school? education is the key might seem drastic but drugs are everywhere in the media. Simple education on the facts and no scare tactics at that age is the best defence

We don't have that kind of programs here in Holland so it's up to us parents to talk to our kids. My son is now 16 and I think I educated him well enough but still there's always a chance that he will be confronted with the unwanted use of drugs

The organisation i work at go out to schools and speak to 11 -13 year olds about drugs, They take a couple of cases of samples (just items that look the same not actual drugs) so the kids can see what all the main recreational drugs look like and they have talks and are able to ask question, the childrens liason officer is always amazed at the vast ammount of knowledge this age group all ready hold about drugs and the fact a lot of it is not true and dangerous.

Is this the same program with that officer who shot his own foot in front of the class while explaining why only HE should handle a weapon? I think education IS the answer. It's not going to eliminate it completely, because some of the parents are too dumb to act right, and because of their mistakes, their kids, and the enviroment suffers. But education will cut down on those incidents.

Something similar to that almost happened here in Holland. This kid had taken some "candy" from his/her uncle's car and wanted to give it to other kids at school. Luckily the teachers got a hold of it and no one was hurt.

How horrible. First and foremost, I pray that your friend's son will be okay.
I have beat it into my two childrens head that they are not to take anything from anyone. Regardless of whether it is wrapped like candy, looks like candy or is said to be candy, that they aren't to take anything, from anyone, at any time, unless it is their teacher or mommy, daddy, etc. Even though many parents feel that I am too open with my children regarding sex and drugs, especially at their young age, I feel that telling them the straight up truth about those things is better so that they aren't out there being too curious and also so they aren't out there blind to what can be done and what is out there.

I agree. It's best to teach them yourself and make sure they know what you believe is right, than for them to find out on their own by ways that are "less pleasant".

Thats fucked up. When the kid regains conscious, tell him to point out the kid at school who gave him the "candy" and get ready for that Amber Alert to go off again.
Thats what I would do. And dont worry, they ain't gonna find that kid dead, they'll just him knocked the fuck out. [Edited 4/17/05 15:45pm] Onion Juice appears courtesy of Streethop.com

My kids told me that D.A.R.E. stands for Drugs Are Really Excellent You really have to make an effort to know who your kids are friends with, but this could have happened to anyone.I hope there's no long term damage to the child. Talking with your kids honestly about drugs and treating them like they're going to make good choices will go a long way with most kids, unless they get in with bad friends. Drug Abuse Resistance Education or DARE has recently gotten alot of slack for helping to turn kids onto drugs and not away. I however do not think this is true because positive or negative perconcieved notions about drugs come from home and the media. Home is the first line of defense and although it takes just one fatal misstep, under-girding our children with knowledge and our influence as a parent is key. My prayers go out to your friends son and to all parents. Shake....shake, shake, shake.
