I heard about that. Does it hurt? It just seems like it would take forever for them to thread each hair that needs to be removed. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Normally I'm pretty anal about tweezing my brows, but since I'm taking the Esthetics course at college, the teahcers made us cease and desist any and all hair removal, so that we could wax it when the time came.
I get my eyebrows waxed monday morning! [Edited 4/16/05 21:06pm] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

It takes about 5 minutes at the most unless you're eyebrows are quite jacked up or you're hairy, which I guess can be one in the same.

Brows are SO important for a finished look I pluck, a few strays every few days. I keep them pretty average - not too thick, not too thin. Gotta respect the brow, it bugs me when people ignore that area of their face
I wanted to post before & after pics of Venus Williams & Halle Berry - both had unruly brows when they first came into fame but got it together later & it makes a WORLD of difference

Waxing/sugaring/threading/plucking (i.e. pulling hair out by the root) makes hair grow back finer & more sparse. The methods hurt like hell BUT the result is long lasting & smooth. It's worth it.

Sorry but that is an old wives' tale. Hair is hair and it will grow back with the same fineness no matter what method it was removed by. http://snopes.com/oldwives/hairgrow.asp I don't shave my brows because it would be too hard to maneuver such a large thing on such a small space, and because I don't like very sharp things near my eyes. Men can join in too.. [Edited 4/16/05 11:36am] Hey! Men can join in too! Hurray. I pluck my eyebrows quite much daily, expect for the weekends when my skin just takes some rest mostly. I keep my brows quite big, I don't pluck them that much. I keep the curve in control and look that there isn't any "stupid" hairs, that go everywhere. I don't dye my brows, they're naturally quite black. This picture doesn't show the color that well, but the shape is quite visible. It could look better, but this will do for now. Plucking doesn't hurt, atleast it doesn't hurt me. I'm so used to plucking my eyebrows, that I don't feel the pain. And I never felt any pain actually! Keep your brows shaped, I really should do something to my brows. (I know, my eye looks tired in the picture!) Ciao! - Ippei Nice eyes!

It's not truly an old wives tale. Calhoun is right, if you use a razor it will appear thicker simply because the blunt end, where you cut it with a razor, is being grown back out. If you pluck it, you're getting new growth which is seems finer at the end because it is new hair and is tapered at the end. The hair itself isn't any thicker or finer, it's just the blunt end that will make it look and feel that way. Anyway... I pluck when I have to. It always makes me have a sneezing fit.

My natural shape is moderately full- i used 2 try plucking it thin, but i've found over da past year or so, i've left if much more natural, and i only ever pluck juuust under da arch of it It emphasizez my eyez just da way it was naturally intended- screw fashionable eyebrow fadz!! I'll never go back I pluck them once every two to three dayz, when i notice somethin seemz out of proportion herez...take out da tweezers, pluck a few hairz n hey presto, we have balance No hablo espanol,no!

What do you mean? If you don't have a naturally great arch (which most people don't) you pluck them to make them look neater. Is this really a mystery?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Don't know anybody that does that
but apparently it's a normal thing to do

but apparently it's a normal thing to do Do you know any girls? Then chances are, you know plenty of people who tweeze their eyebrows. Did you really think girls' brows are neat and nicely arched naturally? Naw, if all us women let them grow out, I can guarantee you quite a few of us would have bushy brows to compete with mens' eyebrows. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

They just keep them neat so you'd never know the difference. Unless most of the women you know look like mongrels they're plucking And it's not even a matter of having bushy brows necessarily, it's that the natural shape is just blah & needs some guidance
