Could you mention some post XVIIIth Century buildings you consider good Architecture? Are you one of those snobs who think if it's old is good? What's more, do you know ANYTHING about Architecture? Eero Saarinen happens to be one of the best Architects of the XXth Century. Besides I don't remember having dissed any of those buildings you mention.

I know bugger all about architecture and yes I find older buildings more attractive to look at than some hideous 1960's \ 1970's office block like that. If he was one of the best I would love to see the worst, it looks hideous..sorry Maybe next time you will not be so sensitive and realise I wasn't slagging off your comments (which came across as sarcastic anyway)

I´m used to comments like yours. It seems like Art died in 1900. But wait, there's an exception: Good music and good cinema started in the 1980s

I'll send a pic as soon as photobucket's back up! Bofill is not very well considered amongst the architects because of his populist style. Post-modernism is basically modern style with unnecessary elements like classical columns, archs...that ordinary* people immediately recognize and enjoy. * I hope I'm not sounding classist here.(I meant non initiated) PS.Are you who I think you are? (An Englishman in France)

(An Englishman in France) No, an American woman in France. But he's my pal. Where the heck is he, anyway? I know what you mean about Bofill... But what's wrong with making buildings that "ordinary" people enjoy? The whole Antigone neighborhood is for regular folk; lots of lower cost housing. And it's a nice, lively neighborhood with lots of squares and fountains for the children to cool off in in summer & ride their bikes the rest of the time...

Nothing wrong about it. I was talking from an architectural point of view. You know, there's duck al'orange and then there's fries with mayo. To each his own. I mean, the fact you don't like opera doesn't mean Verdi was a bad composer. Get me?
