I call my grand dad so that he can tell me stories.

I listen to music. Its a powerful therapy for me.

I go for long walks. I exercise. It creates endorphins. Makes u feel good.

A good 'ol booty call usually washes away the sadpuppies too. lol

I write a song or a poem. I might plant some herbs.

When I'm angry I play angry music and then I hit the gym, but it's not the same as just being really sad.

Depends on what I'm sad about. If I need a good cry I'll get ice cream and watch sad movies. If its really serious I'll spend time alone just, well, thinking and meditating a bit, then usually talk to a friend. Sometimes I can talk their ear off, other times I just need to be around people to keep my mind off it and keep myself from crying all day. And then there's good old sleep. I've slept through entire days many, many times in my life.

angry is an energy, sad is like being totally drained of it. but crying does help, it gives an endorphin rush - which a trip to the gym would also do i guess, except its the last thing you'd feel like doing. sad

OKAY, SERIOUS ANSWER TIME:

i try to have the presence of mind to remind myself that sometimes sadness is necessary to balance out happiness and contentment. by that i mean, sometimes i need to get a really nasty flu in order to remind myself why it's important for me to take better care of myself, because when i'm in relatively good health, sometimes i get in a rut and start thinking "why bother taking these vitamins? why bother working out?" and when i feel 100% like crap, it reminds me of why i need to do all that stuff.

sometimes i need to be sad, so i can work through stuff that i'm not paying attention to that are problems in my life. sometimes i need to let myself ride it out and remember that sadness isn't always a dangerous or detrimental thing, even if it's not what i'd consider a good time.

so when i'm sad? i just do stuff to keep my mind busy - unimportant stuff like video games on my computer or alphabetizing my CDs or just stupid stuff that keeps my brain engaged and kinda lets me think about things at the same time. it helps me to have a busywork thing going on when i'm working something out in my mind.
