PICS UPDATE: My recent decorative wall/faux finish project

I've added a few new pics at the bottom.

I've been faux finishing walls for about 10 years now and thought I'd share pictures my most recent job. I'm doing 6 rooms in this house and here are some pictures of the rooms that I have completed. I used the camera on my phone so the quality isn't the best.

The house:

The Study:
The study is done in Ralph Lauren Suede Paint the color is Cheyenne Rock. I can remember back in the day having to drive to Atlanta to the Expo Design Center to purchase Ralph Lauren paint products, but you can now find RL products at Home Depot stores and products similar just about everywhere. It took 2 days and 20 hours to "suede" this room. The paint was applied (2 coats over satin paint close to the suede paint color) with a 4" brush in a crisscross motion giving a suede leather effect.

The Powder Room:
The powder room between the kitchen and dinning room was done in Behr Venetian Plaster the color Aria. Behr is Home Depots house brand and I just love it! It's really great paint and I'd pick it over Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore anyday. This product gives the illusion of old European plaster walls. It's applied in thin layers with a plastic putty knife in a crisscross motion. Once it's dried, I sanded the walls with 600 sandpaper. Then I used a metal putty knife to burnish the high points. It took 2 days 11 hours, my phone camera did not do this room justice- it's absolutely beautiful!

The Kitchen:
This kitchen is almost the size of my entire home! The owner spent $30k on the kitchen cabinets and another $20k on the appliances! Must be nice! But anyway- the kitchen/great/breakfast room was painted in a medium green in a satin finish. I did a color wash/rag off combo with a darker green glaze. I made the glaze with equal parts of paint, water, and water based polyurethane. It took 2 days and 20 hours to complete this room. I had a 6' scaffold with a 10' ladder on the it to reach the cathedral ceiling.

Before:

After:

And finally- the Dinning Room:
It took about 18 hours to hand paint floral motifs from the owners area rug on the dinning room walls and ceiling.

Hope you enjoyed my work. I've still have the master bedroom and bath to do. The owners move in Friday. I'll be taking better quality pics once the house is set up. I'll try to update this tread.

My husband and mother had a fit when they saw that picture. I was almost 20 feet in the air and was very careful!!!

Thanks Pandurito!

Ha Ha smarty pants! wink

That spot is a glass breakage sensor for the alarm system. I'm going back Tuesday to paint all the alarm gizmos, the light switchplate and outlet covers. These items are hard plastic and require light sanding, a coat of spray primer (I use Zinsser BIN primer- it's white pigmented shellac that dries quickly and sticks to anything), a base coat of paint and the decorative top coat.

But Yes it will look much better once it's painted.

Very nice work! Have you ever been to Vegas, there's some incredible faux finishes on the walls of many of the casinos there, especially the Venitian.
