Ok, I've been racking my brains for the last three hours.

I was messing with the preferences to change my type mesurement settings from inches to points and when I went back into the document, my select tool no longer selects objects when I click on them.

Any suggestions?

I'm about to drop kick this pewter off the 5th floor window.

Under Preferences > General, check to see if you accidentally checked "Object Selection by Path Only", if so, remove it.
