netflix people: is your service slowing down? one of the things i used to love about netflix was that the turnaround was supernaturally quick - over the past month or two, though, it seems like their service has been slowing down. has anyone else noticed this, or am i just an impatient brat? i'm wondering if, now that they're kinda the big kahuna in DVD rental biz, they're kinda slowing it down because they can.

I've noticed it's slowed down by about 2 days...

Ex-Moderator | I've noticed this too! I feel like several of my friends have commented on this recently as well. I really notice it when I'm ordering kookie/rare indie flicks and someone pointed out to me that they probably don't have EVERY dvd in our local warehouse and some must be sent in from another one.
And hey! You should be my Netflix friend! I love seeing what other people are watching. |

Yup! Bastids! It takes nearly a week for me 2 get movies now!
and what really pisses me off is it shows that your movies have already been returned, but they don't send out new ones until the day after.

Im not really interested in the major blockbuster crap
I like old movies and indies I've always leaned toward Netflix...but Im such a impatient bug when it comes to slow mail. I dont want to go crazy "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

mmm...don't think so. Blockbuster is high on Netflix heels, so I doubt it's a big kahuna burger for Brad thing. It could be that they have 3 million customers. They may have changed some shipping on ya though. Maybe midwest is taking an extra day or two now. I think West coast is an extra day. I don't see how Blockbuster is going to outdo netflix as their site is really really horrible. You really have to search to find anything. Christian Zombie Vampires

Their plan is to charge us the same amount, but give us fewer movies. It's a scam. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

i believe it. i mean how the fuck can you make money renting out 24 dvds a month for 20 bucks? well, i'm sure they're making a profit, but they're sure to make more with a slower turn around time.

i can't believe THAT many people are turning around DVDs that quickly. most of the people i know have their netflix DVDs sitting around for weeks before they get around to actually watching them. i mean, i guess families have a lot of turnaround because kids go through stuff so fast, but come on. it's so much of a profit strain that it warrants a slowdown? if true: lame.

All I know is that the service was fast as fuck when I first signed on, but it's been getting slower and slower. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

same here. i couldn't figure out how they were getting my discs as fast as they were processing them, and next thing i knew, i had new DVDs in my mailbox. even if there were like a two day turnaround, it would be cool. but now i'm doing good to have three new discs by the weekend, and that's starting to kinda suck.

one way to get them, is by sending to vids in one envelope, that way they get processed at the same time.

Yeah...but how many are that fastidious with these things. They got money outta me...shoo and I held onto 3 for a long time. SOmetimes we're getting charged a whole month, yet only have 3 out. That's where they make their money. Another issue is that me and my partner have gotten a bit lazy int he past few months (especially him...VERY hard to get him to remember lil things these days). But I can certainly see them adding a day to the return schedule to increase profits. Christian Zombie Vampires

I doubt Netflix appeals to families that much. Most familys will BUY dvd's as Kids watch that crap over and over and over. Also the kids hae Zero control over what they will watch...where as when you go to the video store they can see the pretty covers and pick out whatever crap they want. Many families with mare than 2 kids don't watch that many movies as a family, because many are too busy. Of course I am only basing it on my brothers family (which is very typical and they have 4 kids...my bro can't recall the last movie he saw)I think Netflix is going after Couples, and Singles. It's not exactly Kid friendly. You also have to be internet saavy too. Christian Zombie Vampires

Yes, I'm sure movie holics are LOVING netflix. Quick Question..how long did it take you to get to where DVD's were lying around for more than 2 weeks, when at first I am sure you watched them religiously or at least within a few days. "The dropoff" I am sure is built into their financial model. I say for us...about 2-3 months before we hit drop-off. Christian Zombie Vampires
