dealing with people who throw you shade you know...people who, whenever you say word one to 'em, basically dare you to knock the chip off their shoulder. people who obviously have a problem with you, but are waiting for you to make the first move so you'll be the bad guy.
i'm not a high drama person, i don't have time for this shit. i wish i could say those exact words to the person who's been throwing me shade, but i'm sure i'd spring their booby trap and all hell would break loose and i'd end up getting in some damn trouble. i'm trying my best to pretend i don't notice the attitude and the nasty tone and all that crap, but whatever - i'm human - these things get to me. should i talk to someone about it? should i just condition myself to feel that it's unimportant, and just laugh the person off? or should i fill the lunchroom with mud and let my claws come out?

Fling mud and let the claws come out and get it on video!
Either that or ignore the person.

Don't let it fester. Take them aside and say something with as much as tact as you can muster.

actually, there was already a minor altercation and i said if there was a problem, i'd gladly talk it out in private or in a manager's office. the shadethrower said no, they'd prefer to hash it out in the middle of the office or else not at all. you can see the pillar of maturity i'm dealing with.

The best way to get someone like that is to be overly nice to them....so sugary they will throw up it will piss them off to no end....
Or You can walk up to them and say you been trippin motherfucker....(pause) and say..."Is Anxiety gonna have to slap a bitch?" clever clever quotation - attention getting quote - sad yet witty remark - look at me! Im deep quote- song lyric about my ex cause that bitch stole my mp3 player! - line from movie I liked - Prince lyric - not very clever sig mocking other sigs

That never works for me. I get much more satisfaction from toilet papering their vehicles and sticking nail glue in their car door locks. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

Secondly... not funny messin' with cars. Punk ass kids are screwing my new one all up. Dented above my windshield, keyed the back, and stuck nails behind my back tires. All because I won't give them any cigarettes!

Or You can walk up to them and say you been trippin motherfucker....(pause) and say..."Is Anxiety gonna have to slap a bitch?" see, i like the second option. and the first one is just freakin' impossible. you ever just get bad vibes from someone from the first moment you meet them? i think the issue is that the shadethrower is a bit of an attention whore and i'm not sitting still for or laughing at the little displays they put on. i just do my work and keep to my damn self and i think it's pissing this person off. scary thing is, this person's as freakin' old as my mom. not that my mom's that old, but shit. this person is mom age and they're acting out some high school crap.

basically, it's a personality clash. i can see that. the shadethrower feels comfortable throwing their personal shit around and knowing everything about people's business. i don't like to talk about my personal stuff at work. i don't even talk about my writing projects or my second city stuff at work. it's work. the people i work with are nice, but they aren't my friends. it's just how i tick. and i think the shadethrower is reading something very specific into that, since i won't play confidante with them like everyone else seems willing to do. essentially, i think it's pissing this person off that i'm "too quiet".

I think considering what u've said about it you're best just doing what you're doing - get on with your work, ignore it and try to make as little out of it as possible. The fact that it's already bothering you a little must be an irritation to you, so I think you're best choice is to focus your attention elsewhere. It's a waste of energy basically, although I know it may not just go away. I'm sure you can become the picture of detached serenity in the workplace. I sure can!

that's the key. really, as long as i can stay in my own little zone, i'm content at work. Just have to remain polite and courteous and fulfil your obligations re work. It'd be great to have a work environment where you get on with everybody, but you don't have to feel bad about it if you don't have that. Your obligation is only to doing your job. Hope it all works out fine for you.

A. ignore it
b. Ask him what his deal is or... c. Knock the mofo out and put him out of damn misery.

Give her an umbrella as a gift. Just say it's for extra shade.
Or get her some suntan lotion and tell her to stay out of the shade...it's bad for her complexion.

Just rent some mafia hitmen to pounce him around a bit.
Nothing like a good black eye on the person you dislike fervently.

It's a problem that they have with themselves, not you... yeah, that's what it comes down to. i think i'm doing a pretty good job of not feeding into the BS, but it just peeves me that going to work didn't used to bother me so much, and now i dread going because i don't know what kind of little performances she'll have in store for the night - not to mention she NEVER SHUTS UP and i have to sit next to her. i think she's gone soon, anyway. i hope so at least.

I'm a lot better w/ this stuff than I used to be. I know the only thing I can control in my interactions w/ others is my response to them, not how they're being w/ me.
The only thing that gets under my skin is folks who purposely come to me just to fuck w/ me. It's fine if people don't like me or whatever but when I'm aware of it & you come looking for me to give me grief?? THAT pisses me off
