I get this:

Veryfying DMI Pool data.....

and then

and then

.and then sigh Nothing.

Any computer geeks out there got a clue? (Been years since I fiddled with one of these her do dads. ) I suspect that is a memory chip error?

I just need to get in here and grab some pics.

In case its viral which I highly doubt, I dont want to move the hard drive.

Sounds like a BIOS problem. Make sure all IDE and power cables of your IDE drives (hard disk in particular) are properly connected. Then enter your BIOS and see if you can detect your HD.

In addition to what Joey said, it could also mean you have corrupt boot files on your computer. Try booting from a bootable floppy of your operating system.
I guess first though, after checking your connections, make sure that you don't have any disks in your computer or cds.. it could be trying to boot from those.

Noooo... it's difficult to say, "Oh, I don't know my new password"... so I had to give the new one up. Then attempted your other suggestion, which didn't work because they plugged it in and guess what... it worked! "It was just unplugged from the modem, Heather, it's not broken!"

mad

Still can't find the location where I can adjust it so it just won't work.

So sexy to hear a woman talk about computers and actually providing answers. I also think it's probably corrupt data, but first things first. Always start with the obvious stuff, hardware check. smile

Right! Between you and Azure...

Thank you all... I am canabalizing the mainboard as we speak. I built that sucker years ago and I am guessing I am experiencing a mainboard failure... Other syptoms included failure to fully start up or shut down... (The Bios hasn't been entered or altered in years.) To either end, it isn't worth the trouble to keep it alive. I am in the middle of moving hardware off too.

Last remark... A virus wouldn't have done this right?

Unless you just changed some hardware your bios shouldn't give you any problems. It's entirely possible a virus has infected your boot sector.

No that never happened. The cats once killed and left me a frog. I almost killed them both for it as I ran out and squished the fucker! Gives me shivers to this day! They sat by awaiting praise. My parents forbid me to flip out on them as they were only doing what was natural.

Speaking of Random however, my parents forbid me today (20 years later) from flipping out on my son as he too was only being a boy and doing whats natural.
