SHOW Me a WOrk of ART U like PT 2

Again, I'll kick it off with Giger.

Yeah, he's poppy and campy. But I love his stuff.

one of Rodin's "Danaïd" sculptures, originally conceived for
his large piece "The Gates Of Hell", but also as individual
studies. The large one, exhibited at the museé Rodin is by
far the most beautiful sculpture I've ever seen. it's such
an inspiration on so many levels.

This Vermeer reminds me of the forgeries Han van Meegeren did
of Vermeer. It was quite a brilliant episoe in art history.

Anyway, of his "forgeries" [which were original studies, but
fobbed of as "lost" religious Vermeers], I like this one the
most. The faces in most of these Christ paintings are very
true to life. Especially the faces of Christ and Mary M are
very compelling in this one.

Possibly my all-time favorite painting, it's by Henri Rousseau:

This is not a pipe. I like the concept behind the painting, i.e the artist is saying that this is not a pipe in the sense that you can touch it or hold it in your hands, it is an IMAGE of a pipe, but not the pipe itself.

..

which is a fairly obvious statement to make granted, but still I like it smile

I thought I recognised that pipe picture from somewhere. I don't know if the book cover is another painting from the same artist, or a parody shrug

I saw this at SFMOMA. It's wonderful and creepy at the same time. The five o'clock shadow is very realistic.

i'd never seen that one before! it is absolutely amazing.
the atmosphere is mindblowing.

my favorit weathercondition of all is the impending storm
when the light turns a few shades darker and vegetation
starts to yield to the wind.

and then the first rain falls. drool

this picture captures that light and that motion so very
very strongly that it's even better than actual photo's
of such moments.

the tiger is an added bonus almost smile

i'm gonna be a copy cat and get myself a print of this as
well because it just blows me away.

absolutely stunning!

thumbs up!
