Haven't gay men been doing these makeover shows for years though? Yeah, except it's not just a makeover show. The whole gimmick is that it's gay men giving straight men makeovers. The premise is based on the stereotype that all straight men are filthy, disgusting slobs who look like they dress with the lights turned out, and that all gay men are fabulously attired style mavens with impeccable taste in everything and LIVE to do makeovers, arrange flowers, and play with hair. The "Fab Five" (sidenote:annoying twats like them should NOT be allowed to appropriate and modify the Beatles' nickname. That's just wrong.) I've heard the current slate of gay-themed TV shows compared to a modern-day minstrel show. Painting gay people up in all their shiniest, safest stereotypes and putting them on a pedestal as the Cool New Minority that everyone wants to be, but not be. Not sure how I feel about that sentiment. Anyone care to throw in their input on it? "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I don't get the show I mean I get it... makeovers & supposedly witty banter... but I don't understand the appeal. Never watched it, never will. It's fucking boring

I hate to be in the minority but I love the Fab Five. My favorites have to be Carson and Kian(fine as hell). I love their witty banter.
Did anyone see the episode of them in Texas at a fraternity house. Carson kept on picking on this one guy that the frat named Giggles, for obvious reasons. He was so cute and laughing through the entire episode. It didn't help that Carson was right by his side the entire time tickling him. The, lose points with glamslamkid edit. glamslamkid said: They get on my everlasting nerve. What the fuck. Bunch of fucking sell outs. I can't stand them. Straight people need to learn how to be clean and shit on their fucking own. Who the fuck told them it was alright to divulge(sp?...i really don't care right now...) to breeders. NOBODY. I hope God makes them straight. They don't fucking deserve to be gay. They can kiss my ass. No, wait, they'd like that. I hope when they die they go to hell and are surrounded by pussies that spit octopuses out. I hope they're surrounded by octopussy. And the devil comes and puts a thousand burning dicks in their asses and rapes them for 1,000 years. I hate them. I really do. And the next time i hear "METROSEXUAL"...what the fuck just happened to gay, bi, and straight. Now we have all these fucking psuedo-sexualities so mufuckers can be down. I don't fucking think so. I pray every night that show gets cancelled.
Well Alrighty Then... | |

Pretty much the same here. is a very good emoticon for how I feel about all these gay-themed shows. But to be honest, I do watch Queer as Folk. The Brit version had been around for a while and even the American version of the show started before the Gay Explosion -somehow it it seems a touch less offensive, to me anyway. I agree. I think you're talking about Queer as Folk. I saw that once on a premium channel. I hated it. It was like watching a soap opera that tried to mix Sex and The city and the drama of China Beach. very campy. Of course, I hated Six Feet Under and never cared for the Sopranos either.

I think I saw the original UK Queer As Folk. It seemed very gritty and real. I've never seen Six Feet Under or The Sopranos, or come to think of it... Alias, 24 and all that other trash. I used to like Frasier though, but we don't get that here anymore. I've seen Sex and The City a few times and was unimpressed. It seemed so tendentious and contrived. Where's all the good TV gone?

I miss when I had UK TV rather than US TV. You just can't beat a bit of late night Channel 4 or BBC 2 comedy. Look what you did to The Office. You've got no Chris Morris, no Armando Iannuci, no Hatrick productions, no wicked satire, no pushing the envelope. It's all so dull and contrived.
