You're absolutely right.

highfive Thank you for admitting it!!

Men put up with an awful lot of shit from women just cuz they're physically hooked on them. If a beautiful woman has even a smidgen of brains or talent, it's like they're a goddess. Put a dumpy but brilliant, kind, funny girl next to her, and, well....no contest. biggrin

Well you know I'm brutally honest about that stuff and there's nothing wrong with it. It's human nature. I just can't stand it when people say intelligence is turning them on, especially men. Sure it's a requirement in a relationship and even so it's probably more about mental compatibility than actual intelligence. There's plenty of not particularly intelligent people out there who don't have a problem finding a partner.

True (although, for me, wit and confidence can certainly boost a woman's attractiveness in my eyes). Do you believe it's different for women? Will they "look at personality or sense of humor or intelligence or verbal banter" if they don't like the way a guy looks?

I see a hell of a lot more attractive women with less attractive men than vice versa. And no, most of the time the guy's not super rich, either. It's because they were around each other enough that she fell for HIM.

I think for women it's confidence and ambition they're looking for. A guy gotta have that talk. I'm verbally retarded when I have to talk to an attractive woman and I lack any form of ambition, hence I'm single. lol

I agree. nod As Ace says when defending his attraction to skinny girls(he was quoting Woody Allen), "the dick wants what it wants", right? Even here on "La Org" where you'd think looks would mean less than content of posts, the pretty girls who post their pictures (yet perhaps don't have many brain cells to rub together) get more attention than the girls who are witty but aren't so pretty.

And that's just how it is. It's not fair, but it IS. Pretty girls have known since they were 6 yrs old just how to get Daddy or boy classmates to do what they want. evillol If I want that kind of attention, I need to get some plastic surgery, exercise my ass off, etc. and not just complain about it not being "fair". Who ever said life was gonna be fair? shrug

Yep, it's confidence. Ambition, well, yes--but my experience of the women in my family as well as my female friends is that mostly she wants him to be the best at what the guy loves, whether it's carpentry or corporate business. nod A driven man who likes what he does is attractive. A stoner sitting at home watching TV is NOT. biggrin

Don't get me started on this topic! evillol I'm FIRMLY convinced that most men, especially, don't even look at personality or sense of humor or intelligence or verbal banter in a woman UNLESS he likes the way she looks first.

The rest is just icing on the cake for him, IMO. He wants to be turned on physically first. Nothing wrong with it--just sayin' "personality" is overrated.

So, how many ugly people (by YOUR standards) have you dated?

I love a sense of humor and an adventurous side. Cologne, confidence, honesty and take charge attitude does it for me. I surround myself with positive folks and if they make me feel good looks don't matter.

Who said anything about "ugly" people? Most of us are just average, not one extreme or another.

I have dated quite a few guys who weren't "handsome" by traditional standards--guys who were are balding, guys who were overweight, guys who were painfully thin, guys with crooked teeth, guys who were shorter than I am, etc.

There's nothing wrong with people choosing a partner based mostly on looks. People just need to stop kidding themselves that the other stuff matters to them if it doesn't.

Sorry.. lol ...but the emotions towards me that are like light switches--on again, off again--are such a huge turn-off to me that a woman who stays consistent in her emotions will effect me.
