Well, my brother and sister-in-law and their two kids just got transferred from the Cleveland, Ohio area to Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm really contemplating going down there too, since the job market is so lousy here. Not sure what kind of a job I could find down there, but I offered to help them move, and look for a job at the same time. I just sent them an email a few hours ago, and haven't heard back yet, but I'm sure I will. My brother and sister-in-law already told me that I should move to Charlotte as well, but I said, "I can't afford it!" Now I'm like, "Well, shoot, what do I have to lose? I can't be any worse then here."
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Nancy...life decisions are always tough...write down your options clearly on paper with the pros and cons of the matter and make a decision. I for one came "this" close to moving to Charlotte. It has a booming economy, and very progressive in its culture. Property values are comparable to Ohio as it is still the eastcoast. I'd do it. If you need any help at all LET ME KNOW. I have a few contacts there I can tap into for you!!

Had I not begun this Master's program...that is where I'd be!

hug Thanks, Dex, you are so sweet! You are correct in that the economy is doing well in Charlotte, which is what makes it sooo tempting.

nod Very nice! I could watch my two nephews (ages 3 and 5) grow up, instead of only seeing them a few times every year (which is what will happen if I stay here).

Cali would be awesome, but unfortunately, that would not be close to any immediate family members.

Okay, just got off the phone with my sister-in-law, and I'm going to follow them down to Charlotte when they leave on the 18th, stay with them for a week or two, and see if I can't find a job down there. Wish me luck.

My parents were going to build a house here in Cleveland, but just found out that they can't put a house on the lot that they picked (long story). omfg I told my sister-in-law, "Well, they need to move to Charlotte with us, then!" If they were to move to North Carolina, three out of their four kids would be living there, so we would still live in close proximity of each other.

ok nancy... i made the choice to move here where my only relatives are living in this state, everyone else, my mom and my sister have both moved.

first i was living about 4 houses down the street, which has its good qualities and its bad lol i felt like i was living some sort of 'tag along' life with my brother....

then, i had to move, so now i live about 5 or 6 miles away from them, its nice... i can see them whenever i want, but im still here on my 'own' and dont feel like im living in someones shadow.

do what feels best, but you know me, im all for keeping family near each other. and if its best for you money wise, i say go for it woot! could be the best decision youve ever made hug heart

best wishes !

hug Thanks! I know what you mean about living in someone's shadow, I wouldn't like it much myself. I will stay with my brother and sister-in-law for a week or two to put my feelers out, see what's available. If I were to move to Charlotte, I would probably move into my own apartment for the first year, since my brother and his family have their own lives to live, and I would not want to intrude. smile
