Why do we haul our asses around the world to go see stuff? Couldn't we just look at pictures on the Internet?

OK let me answer this as someone who's going to live very soon on the other side of the world away from everyone and everything she knows...I CAN'T WAIT! travel is the most wonderful way of finding out new things, meeting new people, seeing new places and having new experiences you never would at home

I'm an Aussie girl going to the UK for two years and even tho there are plenty of Aussies over there (and actually a couple of friends I've known for years since they were young) I won't be hanging out with them...I'm going there to see the UK, to spend time with UK people and to experience a different way of life

Travel is a wonderful, beautiful way to open your eyes to the amazing world that's out there nod ...for those of you who have travelled you'll know that pictures just do not ever convey the magic the experience brings

Yeap Natisse wink

Travels change life. I was lucky to move almost all over the world. Europe, South America, Africa, USA, Japan, India, etc. What a chance, what a different way to see humanity. What an extraordinary opportunity to share...

I'd ask for recommendations but I'm sure that might go too well.

I went to Iguazu couple of years ago, awesomest place on the planet. You can't look at just a picture of it, it's a 5 sense experience, especially the thunderous sound and the cool spray from the water. I experienced the happiest day of my life there. smile

Well I noticed that I can watch a much TV as I want, but unless I've been somewhere I can't really imagine what it must be like to live there. You can't experience that by looking at pictures or TV shows. People from different countries have different views. The ultimate thing would be to live there for a while and be part of their community and understand them.

You can experience a lot of things where you live except those things which make a certain place unique.

But if you're not of that culture, can you ever really know what it's like to live there? And couldn't you learn what you would find out by traveling there by reading what people who live there write? Wouldn't that, perhaps, be more insightful? hmmm

Yes.

No. Unless you already spoke the language.

No.
