Rock stars wanna be my friend!

So twice in the last week I've had indie rock stars ask to be my friend on myspace. They asked me! How cool is that!?!!?

Granted, I get those stupid invites from lame bands all the time. But I am now myspace friends with Camper Van Beethoven and Kimya Dawson. I love them even more now! Something about receiving a message that says "Camper Van Beethoven wants to be your friend" just totally made my day.

well, we're dishing, aren't we? lol

the fame thing isn't important, but it's cool to be in contact with people who are out there doing stuff and creating music and art and whatnot, just because - to me, anyway - it inspires me to get off my butt and do my own thing. it's one thing to be on a site like this where we're talkin' about an artist who's more or less unapproachable, but it's very cool to enjoy someone's music and actually be able to chat with them and ask them questions and be able to act goofy with 'em. so yeah, it's pretty cool, i think.

Speaking of which...whatever happened with that interview you did? Did it ever get published? Who was it with?

I thought Camper Van Beethoven broke up, and the remaining members became Cracker?

They did break up a long time ago, with David Lowery (and 1 more of the members, maybe?) starting Cracker. However, they've reunited in the last few years releasing a box set, a brand new album and have been doing LOTS of touring.
I'm a big David Lowery fan, whether Cracker or Camper.
