Need Advice: Breast Redcuction SUrgery Have any of the girls on the org had breast reduction surgery? I had a consultation this morning by a plastic surgeon but I sort of left freaking out. I have some back and shoulder pain and really want to do this to eliminate the discomfort. I knew going into the consultation that scars are involved but apparently there are a lot more scars than I thought.
I made a surgery appt. in the fall (Hoping that my insurance covers it b/c I can't afford it if it doesn't) but I'm sort of nervous about the whole thing and I'm hoping anyone who has had it can give me insight. Now I"m wondering if I should cancel. But oh.....the back pain! Let the rain come down...17 days....

Every celebrity that has had it done that I know of: Latifah, Punky Brewster, etc., says it made them feel better. In real life, I know one woman who had it and feels much better but she did have scars and over time, those scars spread and her boyfriend was turned off to the 'twins'. Ultimately, it boils down to whether you have a greater fear of vanity or a greatesr need for pain relief.

Gypsy ~
I had this surgery on Feb 2nd of this year and it is the best thing I ever did. I feel like I'm 15 again, in that respect. You know, wearing cute t-shirts, cute bras, going braless if I want. The best part of breast reduction is that they don't just get smaller, they get higher!!! I'm telling you - you won't regret it. Just make sure you thoroughly check out the surgeon. He should be able to show you pictures of patients before and after and he should have a list of patients that he worked on who will speak to his ability. Go for it! (*)(*)

I had it done 7 years ago, and I don't regret it. I was a size 0 with 38DD's...I had really bad scaring at first, but over time the scars have faded. You can also use cocoa butter to help them fade. Overall, I'm happy with the procedure.

By the way, Redcuction is much more painful than simple Reduction

It all depends on the insurance company. Cigna denied it outright, even though the DR wrote that it was a medical necessity. I was fortunate to have another insurance company to tap - Blue Cross - and they approved it within a week. What they look for is length of time you've had either pain or a rash underneath your breasts...what have you done to alleviate symptoms and has it worked..etc.

I'm telling you, you won't believe it. You'll feel like a teenager. Now, I have to warn you.....at least for me.....at first when I saw them after surgery I was terrified. I felt like I had a mastectomy. I missed my breasts very much and was almost grieving over the loss. I talked to my DR and he understood and encouraged me to allow the healing process to do it's magic. I went from a double D to a C. My DR told me they would be a C and I had my doubts for the first few weeks but now it's been nearly 4 months and I could not be happier.

Before, you could have put a box of crayolas under there (the 64 size) and I coulda walked around all day. I am SO looking forward to summer now, and to not having that itchy sweaty thing going on under them.

I was 21 when i got mine and never felt sorry for one day, i'm now 38:) the scarves are there and they're not nice because i was pregnant at the time i was having the surgery (unknowingly) so after the surgury my breasts grew again But still I never had any regret doing it. no more back pain no more pain in my shoulders walking straight up instead of trying to cover up Good luck with your decision

And this was my biggest concern going in. no way!!! that is my biggest worry too... (other than the whole surgery thing ) Yep - for the first few weeks after surgery they were hyper-sensitive which was really unpleasant actually. They were on high alert 24/7. But things have calmed down and now they are definitely new and improved in that way too. I'm enjoying them like a new toy!

I'm enjoying them like a new toy! i wonder how that works really, i mean, isnt it all because of nerves and whatnot that makes the nipples sensitive ?? if you cut them 'off' then how do they still get to have all that feeling ??? i mean, do they work while they're on the table waiting to get put back on us ?? that would be very weird !!!
