what should I do?

You've heard the rumours and it's true, I'm gonna be officially old this year. 30. bawl (And before anyone tells me that's not old, fine, I get what you're sayiing, but dammit it's my party and I'll cry if I want to. I've already purchased and started using wrinkle cream. confused )

BUT - I want my 20's to go out with a bang. I've got just over 2 months to plan and I've no idea how to celebrate this year. Usually it's friends and dinner and dancing, and I suppose I could do that again, but it feels like I should do something, I don't know, a bit more. or maybe even a bit less. neutral

So what would you do if you were me? batting eyes

Could you take a trip? Do something like going river rafting or something, or go somewhere you've always wanted to go.

My 30th birthday was a quiet family affair.

I hate my 30's .

It absolutely HATE HATE HATE my 30's.

It's an awkward transitional period in life where the riot of youth and vigor of the 20's starts to fade, and you start having to be a grownup.

Did I mention, I HATE my 30's?

That's not a bad idea! I am already planning a trip in a few weeks though... might be too close.

I hate my 30's to, but now that they are coming to an end (in a couple of years), I have come to realize that life must be lived like there is no tomorrow. I will never be younger than I am right now. I have been watching several of my relatives live for tomorrow, "When such and such happens THEN I can do whatever." Guess what. The "such and such" has happened and now their own health is so poor they cannot do what they wanted.

Strike a balance. Live for today but plan for tomorrow.

Sorry--I'm sure there are orgers who will have differing opinions.

But for me, being in my 30's is incredably stressful and unrewarding.

I live for Bling.

That's the thing about the 30's.
You MUST figure it all out.

The party is over. The preparations for growing old and dying have begun.
And the party doesnt' pick up again until sometime in your 40's--and only if you dont' get sick or layed off, or some freakish shit like that.

Did I mention I hate my 30's?

Are you purposely trying to make me cry?? sad

Seriously, this is the hard part I'm having with everything. Which is why I'm tryina concentrate on my last hurrah Bday party. So I can focus on that till after I actually turn 30 and THEN deal with everything.

That is how I began my 30's, now I feel so different about it. Sure I'll never be a world class dancer or musician or any of the other young dreams I had, but I'm now in a great place in life. Money's not the struggle it was when I was younger. I've finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up and I still have my health. It's a great time.

But, like I said, I didn't start my 30's that way. Life is not over until you let it be over. And the party is not over...it gets better cause now you can make your own party.

Well, you still have FUN.
Dont' get me wrong--it's not like your contract on fun just ends.

But something does indeed change.
I think it's becuase you start seeing the bigger picture of life's slow and agonizing march towards death.

Anyways, my suggestion is Vegas--That's a 30 something's paradise. Awesome fun and good times.

And you are, too. You will still be you, 30's or not. Are you gonna stop smiling your beautiful smile or stop emitting pure joy and sunshine because you turn thirty? I will be 36 and I am fucking loving it. I feel better now than I ever did in my twenties.

Anxiety

rent a cabin the weekend of your birthday. invite the kitties. have a very simple, elegant, reflective dinner by candlelight.

then after dessert, break out the sauce, crank up some obnoxiously vulgar dance music, and get rip-roarin' drunk and dance outside in the dark until everyone passes out and ya wake up in the morning in the grass, wiping the slugs off your face and greeting the second third of your life.

okay, i'm weird.

Good God people.

Especially AB! You can die any day. The thirties are not a march toward death... neutral Yeah, turning thirty felt a little weird, but not in the "oh shit I have to grow up" way..I have met teens who are grown up, and fifty year olds who are incredibly immature. DO something adventurous now, yeah, cuz you have less chance of breaking a hip lol but don't think of the thirties as a march toward death.. 90 year olds are having sex, AB. They aren't old, they are gettin some. GRAB LIFE! Live the way you feel, not some "oh I have to grow up I am thirty!" Celebrate Thirty, not mourn your twenties, then you will have a great party, whatever the party may be.

THE THIRTIES ROCK!
