ive just returned from the principals office. alright, after friday (the gunshot thing at school), i have done some investigating of my own to see what REALLY happened before i let my babies go back to school... heres what i found out.
yes, a student and the teacher saw the car, and the hand out the window. only the student saw a 'gun' and his story became more involved each time he told it. three police officers searched the area for bullet remains. apparently, you can make a car backfire if so, that could have been done as a joke on april fools day. either that, or the parent of a student that drives a car similar to the description was dropping their student off for afternoon class, went around the school to wave to their other family member that was on the playground at the time. and, her car is just a piece of shit so, that could have been the case. not one person saw any 'smoke' after they heard the 'shot'. apparently guns leave smoke ? while i thought i had a huge decision to make, i found out this morning that the principal infact let the 1st grade class out just after the police left thats MY daughters class !!!!! i really wish she would have let the parents make that decision, but, apparently she felt comfortable enough with it to let them out. she said they had extra adults out there for the rest of the day, looking for anything out of the ordinary. there were no bullets found anywhere. therefore, i have agreed to let my babies continue on with activities as normal, however, i have instructed them that should ANYTHING happen, or not feel right, they are to IMMEDIATELY go in the building. and if anyone has a problem with that in the school, they are to call me and i will take care of it for them. i gave them both extra hugs this morning, and told them i loved them, just like any other school day.... but, believe me, it was not and easy thing to do to drop them off. thank you for all the support from you guys i really needed to vent about it friday, i said and talked about things that wouldnt be good for the kids to hear, i didnt want to shake them up anymore than they already were. ** side note, as i was leaving the principal's office, she let me know that my son will be recieving an award for his grades this quarter and thanked me for my continuing support of the children and the efforts given to ensure their success in school.. that was nice to hear One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

You know the saddest thing is that the kid made the link between what he saw and heard and an actual drive by shooting. | |
