Star Wars: RoTS - T-Bird's updates (new scans from German RoTS book!)

http://www.canmag.com/news/4/3/797

We originally reported that the Star Wars saga was going to feature a second round at the theatres all in the third dimension in coming years[read here]. Now Showest, the convention that occurred in Las Vegas, has offered tons on Star Wars including the sneak peak at both the saga in 3D and the first eight minutes of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

While I had no idea Showest had that kind of pull, theHollywoodnews sends a report.

Star Wars in 3d Any Good?
In the first reports that I had read about Star Wars in 3D, they claimed that while the film did look pretty good, there was still some minor 'ghosting' that can get on some viewers nerves [ghosting is a result of the film being in 3D]. Well, theHollywoodnews also saw the same presentation, which was lead by George Lucas, James Cameron, Robert Zemeckis and Robert Rodriguez, and in a single word they called it 'astonishing'. Here is a snippet from the report:

We're talking quality film in digital 3-D. James Cameron is shooting his next feature, Battle Angel, in 3-D and he appears extremely excited about the whole endeavor. Lucas also talked about the possibility of taking pre-existing film prints and transferring them to digital 3-D. And in fact, during the product real, he treated the audience to the first seven minutes of A New Hope in 3-D and it was absolutely astonishing. Crystal clear. It looked like a brand new movie, and the 3-D process lends itself beautifully to that kind of film...

Revenge of the Sith- First Eight Minutes
Just when I thought I could not have been more jealous on missing out on Showest, reports begin to come in that they showed a whopping eight minutes from the beginning of Revenge of the Sith. The first eight minutes began with the 20th Century Fox logo and ended somewhere during the initial space battle. Here is a snippet from the report:

George Lucas showed us the first eight minutes (or thereabouts) of Episode III. We're talking about the 20th Century Fox logo, followed by the Lucasfilm logo, followed by the infamous crawl (which, at this point, most fans have read on line), followed by the opening space battle. It was breathtaking. The overall look of the picture is simply stunning. Colorful and vibrant. Action packed. Sound that nearly knocked our asses to the back of the theater.

Revenge of the Sith is sounding better by the day... but I do not want to get my hopes too up, as I have been disappointed before.

More news (it's March 22 in Australia):

Villain in dark over Star Wars plot

Sophie Tedmanson, Entertainment reporter
March 22, 2005

HAYDEN Christensen loves the new Star Wars film in which his character turns to the dark side.

At least he thinks so - the Canadian actor still hasn't seen the finished movie.

Christensen - who stars as Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Knight who turns into Darth Vader in the final production of George Lucas's enormously popular sci-fi series - is in the middle of a promotional tour of Australia, talking about a movie he can't really talk about.

Last night, he walked a red carpet in Sydney, not for the premiere of the film, but for a special screening of a trailer for Star Wars: Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith, plus some behind-the-scenes footage and a Q&A session with radio competition winners.

"It's a little weird," he said of promoting something he hasn't seen in full, and which won't be released worldwide until May 19.

"But it's also sort of fitting, because it's so shrouded in secrecy that not having seen the film makes it easier not to give away all the plot points.

"But I'm very eager and excited to see it. (And) it's the one that I think everyone's been waiting for. It's for the real diehard fans.

"It's going to really pay off in a sense that it ties into the original trilogy in such a smart, gratifying way, so I'm very excited for this film to come out."

When asked what it was like to play Darth Vader, Christensen - who seems too boyishly sweet to play an evil leader - laughed. "It's, you know, cool," he said. "It's something that I don't think you can ever really dream (of) ... I don't think I'll ever really get my head around the concept that I am Darth Vader."

Christensen is no stranger to the massive marketing campaigns of the Star Wars movies, including Revenge Of The Sith, which was filmed at Sydney's Fox Studios.

He was not even born when the original movie was released in 1977, but his older brother Tove was a huge fan.

The actor grew up with Tove playing with Star Wars figurines while Christensen impersonated the voice of Darth Vader (still voiced by American actor James Earl Jones) to scare his younger sister.

Now Christensen really is Darth Vader and there are look-alike action figures of him. Add to that all the other Star Wars merchandise and Christensen now has one of the most recognisable faces in the world.

"I'll never get used to that," he said. "It's surreal ... walking into a convenience store and wanting a bag of potato chips and not being able to get the one you want because they all have your face on the cover. It's weird to see your face everywhere."

Christensen admitted that being part of the Star Wars franchise meant he would always be linked to one character.

"But that's what I signed on for," he said.

"The association will always be strongest with Darth Vader and Star Wars ... and I think that's pretty neat."

Apparently this is the ROTS novelization transcribed back into script format.
