We Think My Daughter Broke Her Arm My kids are at my aunt's for Spring Break and apparently my six year old daughter fell off her bike and may have broken her arm. Poor thing. Am waiting for my mom to call and let me know if it's simply dislocated or broken.
I hate this. I know that fractures in children are common, but the scary part is knowing that she's scared out of her little mind. I guess she keeps shutting her eyes tightly and taking deep breaths, repeating: "I will never ride a bike in my life again!" Boy, her dad is going to be pissed. I think I'm more scared to call him and tell him the news.

Exactly... in fact, I may just quote your entire post when speaking to him. I may be driving there tomorrow though if Haley's cousin caused this. His parents don't pay him any attention and he has some really serious issues. I heard that last night he was riding his bike by them and kicking their tires out from under them and saying, "Drive by!!"... when he was told not to do that he replied, "That's what we do in Detroit." The little fuck.

It is the WORST! In an hour I go get my hair fixed and I hope to have a call before then. Damned stylist was supposed to go a shade darker brown and I walked out with orange roots that glowed and auburn hair. The signal on my phone doesn't work so well in there.

Oh my! Give Haley a big hug, and get her back on that bike.

One of the most heart-touching things I see working at a hospital is when kids come in. Some of them cry and are scared and I work to try to make their experience a positive one.
But some of the kids come in and are so incredibly brave. You can tell they are scared, but they are so strong. That is one of the few things I see at the hospital that makes me teary every time I see it. And Sag is right on. Give Haley a big hug and get her back on her bike. I'm firmly planted in denial

Thanks, guys... they put a splint on her arm. It is broken in two places. She goes into the hospital here tomorrow morning at 8:00 for the pediatric bone surgeon to take a look and determine whether or not she requires surgery to correct it or if it is something that can be aligned and heal with a cast on. The doctor at the emergency where she was didn't want to touch her in case he made a wrong decision, considering she is a small child and her bones are still growing... sooo...
She is on her way home, I have to get a bed ready for her on the couch so she can sleep there. She said she didn't want to sleep in her bed. She's all doped up on pain killers... lol... pretty wooooozy. Unfortunately, she broke her right arm and she's right handed. It oughta be interesting to see her eat and function normally. Mom is relieved and can smile again... my baby sounds fine. That's what worried me... her fear. Gonna go make that bed!

Thank god are kids are tougher than us i say. I'm sure she'll be okay. You can tell her she'll have lots of fun having her friends sign her plaster cast. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

im sorry sweetie thats hard when the babies get hurt for what its worth, my son broke his right arm last year.. it hurt like HELL and it was horribly itchy in the cast, but the doctors were great, things healed on their own - so no surgery was needed, and eventually, he learned to write with his left hand
best wishes to the both of you hope everything turns out well One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111
