Okay, I'm watching the person I most love in the world...

... right now. She's sitting in front of me at the computer room at the University, facing her computer. Writing an essay of some sort. She's probably my best female friend, have been that for some year or so. We have spent hours and hours on the phone talking about the possibility of a relationship, but I have never wanted it to materialize. I think she is in fact in love with me - when I look deep into her eyes her pupils they seem to be very dialated. Yes, I've had my changes but always said "no". She's smart, incredibly sweet, funny and pretty. I love being close to her. The only real problem is, and I guess has always been:

She really has HORRIBLE TASTE.

What the f*ck is she wearing as of speaking right now? I can't believe you have actually spend money on that? What the hell are those anyway? Moonboots with flowers? Why does a grown-up woman want to look like a 12-year-old? The worst thing is she really thinks she has great taste. Well, she doesn't. This goes way beyond that - I think of all of my female friends I have ever had (and I've had many) she has the worst taste by far.

Yes, I'm vain. And deserve all my unhappiness, constant depression and being single for the rest of my life. Life fucking sucks, alright.

yeah man that is pretty shallow but I hear you though. Iam now single and am currently in a state of work in progress with a hot girl at the mo'.

She wears the same black coat and black trousers everyday. Gets kinda dull.....

Skirt season is coming back, along with low cut tops. I hope she adapts

I've wondered that thing too while lying on the bed at nights, watching the ceiling. It's equally depressing as well. Thank you for reminding me of that. smile

Well, if you get together with her, maybe she'll change her style.

I forget the name of that one show on the Style channel...but they pretty much have a style intervention for the fashion challenged. Maybe, you should look into that.

I wouldn't want to change anybody. You don't change the one you love, right. confused

"Honey, I really love you and respect you. But what about buying a pair of high heels and a skirt - and by "skirt" I mean something that's of one colour only.

I remember one night when we were standing at the bus stop she was wearing a pink woolly hat, purple glasses, a white scarf, a red winter jacket, dark blue jeans, brown boots, very gaudish orange and yellow striped mittens(!) with a black bag and a grey hood sticking out of the collar of her jacket (which had, mind you, a pale yellow and turquoise blue inlay that was showing as well). I swear to God, I got blind that night.

I mean you wear that stuff to wilderness and you can be sure all the wild animals, even the most sanguine ones, will surely leave you the hell alone.

Could it be that her bad taste only bothers you on the surface, and you're using that one flaw as a guard from potential intimacy? Subconciously you could be afraid getting closer to her, for whatever reason and you're playing the fashion police as an avoidance strategy.

Just a thought...

You know, she might think her style is slammin". Or, the opposite - maybe she doesn't give a damn about fashion.

I know. However. The fact that she turns me off and that I find her "self-expression" quite repugnant is not a bad reason. It's the right thing to do not to go any further. Otherwise, I would be just takin' advantage of her. That's how I feel too.

But it's funny though, it's okay for the girls to ditch a guy if he doesn't take care of his appearance, but automatically everybody assumes that if a guy does the same it's superficial. Many girls would reject a guy for just wearing hip-hop / goth / whatnot -type of clothes and that seems perfectly okay. "You're not my type".

I am not going to leave alone one of my best friends! A relationship is an entirely different deal, but the whole thing didn't come from my proposal. I just feel guilty for not wanting her, cause she's a great person.

Thanks for the dating advice everybody! Another day of being pathetic at the internet fulfilled! thumbs up!

You're not being pathetic, you're trying to be honest with yourself, and there's nothing wrong with that, it's just hard to do sometimes.
