Right now I'm thinking about the minestrone soup my wife is making. I'm trying to decide how many slices of bread to eat with it, 8 or 10.

tubby. Hardly. I've lost about 3 kgs just by living here.

Well, in this case her culinary skills extended only as far as heating up some Campbells minestrone. I didn't manage 8 slices actually, only about 6. It is coming up to 6pm though and I have got spaghetti for dinner later.

Is it customary in Thailand to make loads of slurping noises (well, the men) when eating spaghetti / noodles? Sign of masculinity and all that?

I guess a little slurping is part and parcel of eating spaghetti or noodles, but it's neither frowned upon or revered. There are different mealtime customs though.

I only ask because it seemed to be the case when i was in China (and my Chinese guide, translator and food-expert said this was the case). Just wondered if the same was true in other noodle-centric areas. Thailand is noodle-centric, right?

I love noodles, rice and soup, but I do lose my appetite sometimes just from eating it all the time. Have to have pasta sometimes. Fruit is good, I can always eat that. Never been to China, but I'd love to go.
