Transferring VHS to DVD I was walking past this film developing place and there was a neon sign in the window that said something like, "We can transfer your VHS movies to DVD!"
I'm curious b/c I have a bunch of OOP VHS movies not out on DVD and some Fleetwood Mac rarities that I would love to watch on DVD (I don't have a VHS player anymore - it broke and I never replaced it). How much does this transfer cost? WIll it work on something that's been copied on a blank VHS (i.e. a Fleetwood Mac concert from 1979 that's been duplicated previously) Let the rain come down...17 days....

I would presume that home recorded VHS tapes are what they would work with.

Wait another year or too and you can probably buy a VHS/DVD combo unit for next-to-nothing.
As of right now, you can get one for $180.00 at Best Buy. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Actually you can purchase PC DVD burners that will convert your homemade VHS tapes to DVD rather easliy with the accompanied software. HP DVD Moviewriters for example. As to the copying of your Fleetwood Mac and the like, that would involve added hardware (macrovision remover)to allow for the copying of copyrighted material and you would have to abide by the Fair Use rules of copyright laws.
