...for those of us who are too lazy to read anything anymore that's longer than a magazine article.

By unanimous vote, this year's movie will be Woody Allen's Melinda & Melinda, opening this week in New York, next week in selected cities. So, get out and see it and check back in for discussion. If there are to be any plot spoilers in your post, please label it so clearly. Here's a synopsis of the film for you:

Over a meal in a Chinese restaurant, Sy poses a conundrum to his fellow diners – is the essence of life comic or tragic? For the sake of argument, he tells a story, which the others then embellish to illustrate their takes on life. The story starts as follows: A young Manhattan couple, Park Avenue princess Laurel and tippling actor Lee, throw a dinner party to impress Lee's would-be producer when their long-lost friend Melinda appears at their front door, bedraggled and woebegone.

woot! Jersey's in!

The advance notices have been very good (as opposed to the last few Woody's).

It's good he's not hand holding audiences with this one. I hate that. It may take a little focus, but geez people.....don't be so lazy with your movies.

I hope not. Since the whole Soon-Yi scandal, the vast majority of his flicks have been pandering with a capital 'P'.

How true. Hopefully this will be good. I love the premise. There is a point where will ferrel finds his wife cheating and he's just happy because now he can pursue Melinda without worrying about being married....LOL.....

i'm going to see the new woody allen movie when it comes out here in chicago, just because it's a tradition with me and my friends to see his flicks on the big screen when they come out...but my faith in the quality of his movies isn't exactly what one could call 'iron clad'. his last movie had some redeeming moments, but 'jade scorpion' and 'hollywood ending' were just plain painful.

I'm a Woody Allen fan, so I will be going to see this one. It will be the first film of his that I've seen in a while. I didn't see the last couple, because they didn't look good to me and I'd heard nothing but bad about them. This looks promising, and the advance word I've heard on it is good.

I'm just getting into the whole woody allen thing. Not sure why I didn't earlier... Anyway, I saw a preview for this about a month ago and am eagerly awaiting it's release. I'm in!

It's kinda fun to catch up on a singer/performer/filmmaker's work when you've just discovered them. See Manhattan or Crimes and Misdemeanors if you've not already. They're two of his best.

Not that this means anything to some people, but I just watched Ebert & Roeper, and they loved it. They've not been big fans of Allen's last couple of movies. This raises my hopes for it some.
