this makes me happy too....

art is simple for me, I like what makes me feel, I like what makes me look twice. It's not a big intellectual process for me. shrug
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Impressed

Caravaggio.

Simply because he made some of the best pieces of art I have seen. They convey so much and the texture, color and action is so rich. My favorites of his include:

Bacchus

Beheading Holofernea (1598)

Velazquez

Ladies In Waiting -- this is such a beautiful piece.

Jacob Lawrence

The Migration series. GREAT!

i can't remember if i've ever been in the same room with a basquiat...i went to a warhol retrospective in chicago a long time ago and i went to the warhol museum in pittsburgh a few years ago, and got to play with the silver balloons both times. i think there were a couple of warhol-basquiat collaborations at the warhol museum. going there was like visiting wonderland. love

He was a very troubled figure. His life story is so tumultuous. Check out the movie "Caravaggio." Explains a lot about him. He had quite a few male lovers and I think he slept with a few of the boys he painted in his portraits (or maybe that was the fictious movie I'm drawing from?)

Nevertheless, the guy had a wild life.

Hmmm, I'm not entirely certain. I saw a movie based on Caravaggio's life a while back. It was directed by Derek Jarman and it came out in the late '80s. It was a very sexual movie, sometimes violent. Reflected Caravaggio somewhat.
