Do You (Or Have You) Ever Taken Your Cat/Dog to a Groomer? I had to take my kitty, Prince, to the groomers today, because his coat was so unbelievably matted. He has long, silky fur that matts easily. I tried brushing him several times, but he would not stand for it (he would meow at me, bite/bat at the brush, etc.). ![]() So today I called a groomer that is about 5 minutes away from my house, and as luck would have it, there was a cancellation, so I was able to take Prince in right away. The first thing the groomer did was put Prince on a table, and brush his fur thoroughly. I was amazed at the amount of fur that came off, there was enough there for another whole cat. ![]() The groomer then trimmed Prince's paw pads and clipped his nails. Then it was bath time, which of course, terrified my cat, poor little guy. The groomer used a cat shampoo that had green tea and something else in it, and said that the scent of it was calming for cats. It did seem to calm him down a bit, because at one point, Prince was breathing kind of heavy, and I could tell his was really scared. Then the groomer towel dried him, and blew his fur dried (another thing that freaked my poor cat out). Another good brushing all over, including his stomach, finishing it off with a light spray, and a good ear cleaning, Prince was as good as new. Prince looks like a different cat now, his fur is no longer tangled and is so soft and pretty looking. I told him he's now ready for a cat show. ![]() ![]() RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I take my dog to the groomer at least once a month. $42.00 each visit
he a long haired dog, and I was told that knots are very painful. hairballs are a mess as well.....monthly grooming helps prevent hairballs and knots!!! I watched an episode of animal police (i think thats what its called) where they told a pet owner if he did not take his pet to get groomed immediatley they would fine him and take him to jail...animal abuse. Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize u simply imagined this So u lean over and give her a kiss Here on earth, here on earth, with u it's not so bad Here on earth, here on earth eye don't feel so sad Stay right here

The groomer told me that hairballs were painful too, and that they "pull in all directions." Yikes! I didn't know that not grooming your pet is animal abuse. I really need to make sure that I groom my cat on a daily basis. ![]() RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

If you start grooming them as kittens/puppies, they grow to looooove being brushed. My mom's cats groove on it, especially the long-haired one, she meows/cries to be brushed and tries to lead you into the room where the brush is. I call her slut-kitty.

Oh, I also meant to say that if you keep up with the brushing on your own you won't need to spend the $$$ on the groomer after awhile.
My mom's long haired cat sometimes needs to go to the vet/groomer for a "sanitary shave", though--that's when her under-the-tail/butt hair has gotten too long and her poop gets stuck in it.... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Her brother-kitty likes to lie on his back with his legs spread open and his paws limp-wristed. I call him "faggy slut boy" when he does that. ![]() ![]() Yeah, start brushing your kitty as you're petting him, and/or give him a treat, so he associates it with something good.

The groomer said that my being there the whole time probably helped my cat, since I was able to pet him and reassure him (he was scared out of his mind). RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
