Star Wars Episode 3 - Theory

Well more than a theory really - Id go as far as to say that Lucas has made the twist very obvious....having said that it does point in 2 directions.

1) Palpatine is Anakins Father - a bit of a recycled storyline but watch the new trailer, listen to what Palpatine says and think back to Episode 1 and the lack of explainable father to Anakin...several lines of dialogue in the new trailer spell it out

2) Senator Palpatine isnt Darth Sideous....but they are the same person. The Trailer leads you to think thta tehy are one and the same...but what if Sideous had created a clone of himself (as Palpatine) to sit in the Senate whilst the real Sideous pulled the strings behind the scene.

Im 95% sure that these 2 things will crop up

what if anakin is a young clone of palpatine the way boba fett was a young clone of jango fett? the boba fett thing in the last movie coulda just been lucas' way of getting us ready for when he drops the bomb about anakin/palpatine.

ya think?

The Palpatine Father story was always soemthing I suspected...but unless Palpatine is from Yorkshire Id say the line "I need your help my son" is a dead give away.

I dont think Anakin is a clone but I do think that the "unantural powers" tha palpatine speaks off is what got his mum pregnant without explanation.

As for Obi Wan jnr being Obi Wan seniors father...Im sure you were only joking but think of the age thing...Alec Guiness seems too old

I think he's just been sand-blasted, living out in the desert too long. He's actually about 35 yrs old.

just found this but I think Lucas will change his mind

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Lucas says he never intended to make nine Star Wars movies--a surprise to many of the series' hardcore fans, who remember the filmmaker envisioning a nine-part series when the original Star Wars came out in 1977. a d v e r t i s e m e n t

"When you see it in six parts, you'll understand," Lucas tells the magazine. "It really ends at part six."

In other words, the whole shebang culminates with the dreaded Ewok dance at the close of Return of the Jedi celebrating victory over the Empire, and the redemption of Anakin Skywalker. (The prequels will focus on how the father of Luke and Leia succumbed to the dark side of the Force and became Darth Vader.)

As the 54-year-old Lucas points out, he doesn't have Yoda's 800-year life span--by the time an Episode IX would come out, he'd be collecting social security. "I'll be to a point in my age where to do another trilogy would take 10 years," he explains.

Then how about letting someone else produce the final trilogy of the trilogy-trilogy? Not likely. "It's my thing," the filmmaker says.

Of course, some fans are taking the news hard.

"Lucas does say that there will only be six episodes, not the traditional nine, which we were raised to believe existed!" lamented one anguished Star Wars newsgroup denizen, expressing a betrayal even greater than when Lando Calrissian sold out Han Solo to the Empire.

"Well, that really makes my f---in' day!" wrote another.

I think Yoda deforms Palpatine somehow.

As for his father--there may be some truth behind it, although it would diminish the impact of the Christlike "Chosen one" analogy.

I'm just glad that LUKAS owns the full movie rights. Cuase as bad as Episode I and II where, if Fox would have been left to their own devices we'd be seeing Predator Vs. Chewbacca.

I liked Episode II.
(though I think Lucas should have cut the scene with Anakin riding the balloon-
cow thing and rolling in the grass with Padme, and kept in the scene with
Anakin, Padme and her parents)

As for the whole trilogy of trilogy idea... it's a great shame that it looks
highly unlikely that this will ever happen. And despite what Lucas now says,
he definitely did talk about a 9 film saga back in the day. Though from
what I heard he never fleshed out the final trilogy's story into 3 proper
scripts, but the basic story arc was done.

It's a shame also because as a 6 film story about Anakin, the final movie;
Return Of The Jedi seems a bit anticlimatic. Having the full 9 movies solves
this problem, as the story doesn't end there. There's certain events and
revelations in Episode III that were supposed to tie in with the final trilogy,
but I'm pretty sure that Lucas has changed/simplified a few things so that
this will no longer happen.

(ps. the theory about Palpatine being Anakin's father was certainly something
that appeared in Lucas' original prequel draughts, but I'm pretty sure it's
been dropped from the final scripts)
