I to this very day STILL haven't beat the original Super Mario Bros game on Nintendo. I've beat 2, 3, and Super Mario World, but I haven't beat part 1. Why? Cause its a stupid ass game.I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the game, but its just so fuckin stupid. I've reached the last level a few times, but something always went wrong once I got there.

Just help me understand a few damn things. First of all, how do you get killed by some little muthafuckas walking sideways into/towards you? How deep are the ditches he be falling in? Cause I see a black line at the bottom of my screen that he should be able to walk on. If he can grow bigger, how come he can't jump any higher? Its works for the Incredible Hulk. Mario is supposed to be a plumber - why he aint got no wrench to chuck at these bitches? And oh, he ain't got a wrench, but the Hammer Brothers got hammers though. If he can shoot fireballs, can't he fly the Human Torch or grow wings or something? Mario & Luigi supposed to be from Brooklyn and they can't punch? They ain't got no guns? Mayne, if you all could die from just bumping into each other, everybody would be walking around in plastic bubbles. And as much as I would like to know how he holds all that change in his pockets, I ain't even gonna ask.

I have waited YEARS for a quality Mario Bros thread....Now that it's here it's very anti-climatic....

I can beat the first Super Mario Bros. without much thought. One of my first memories was playing it, though, so that's probably why.

I'd say the third is the hardest.

I have finished Mario 3, and I enjoy Mario 1.

I think it's Mario 2 that is fuckin' impossible... I don't know where to find the 1-Ups.

I don't like falling downward into a screen when I don't know where the platform beneath is located. That off-screen shit happens too much on Mario 2. Or maybe that's like the first level, which is what I end up playing over and over.

And I play best with Luigi cause he jumps high as hell. And sometimes Toad (he's the fastest) and Princess cause she can fly.

Did you know that Super Mario 2 wasn't originally a Mario game at all? It was released in japan as Dream Factory: Doki Doki Panic around the same time as Nintendo released a different Super Mario Bros. 2, which looked and played very much like the first game, except it was much harder and gave you the option of choosing between Mario and Luigi at the start (Luigi could jump higher, but his controls were more loose). Doki Doki Panic instead featured a set of arabic themed characters. Supposedly Nintendo thought the real SMB 2 would be too difficult for american audiences, so they swapped DDP's characters for Mario and friends along with a few other changes.

If you can get Super Mario All Stars for the SNES, The Lost Levels game on that is the real SMB 2 that formerly was only available in Japan.

I had the game for years and never beat the game.

You know what I actually think is the best Mario game, though? Yoshi's Island. A lot of people don't consider that a real Mario game since you really just play a s Yoshi, but I do feel it was a natural (Not to mention hugely progressive) step up for the series.
