Yes, Palpatine is The Emperor / Darth Sidious.

that's what we're supposed to believe, anyway. there might be more to it.

There is... sort of.
'Palpatine' is a front, a disguise to get Darth Sidious where he needs to be.
(he's not a seperate person or a clone or anything like that). The yellow eyed,
bald, pale skinned Emperor we see in Return Of The Jedi is how he really looks,
The young Palpatine we see in Episodes I & II is a kind of pretence kept in
place by the power of the darkside. He's not a shapeshifer like Zam Wessel in
Attack Of The Clones, but it's a similar effect. Palpatine's 'real' appearance
slips for a second during his battle with Mace Windu in Episode III.

what if anakin is a young clone of palpatine the way boba fett was a young clone of jango fett? the boba fett thing in the last movie coulda just been lucas' way of getting us ready for when he drops the bomb about anakin/palpatine.

ya think?

Been readin' Dark Empire again, have we?

I think the NEW set of movies will be much better when we get the final piece in May..

another thing..most of us are "all grown up" how can we EVER love this set of movies as much as the first...

but.. after this movie, we will run back 2 the other 2 and like them MUCH more..

I promise....

my sons are 11 and 9 and NEVER want 2 watch the originals...

This is their ride.. we had ours.....

i think i liked the original three better than the new three because they didn't have the money (at first, anyway) or the technology to whip up just any old thing they could think up, so they had to be resourceful and find imaginative ways to bring their ideas to life. i think the CGI in the prequel trilogy takes a level of charm out of the movies that made the first three (or at least the first TWO) so special for me. of course, you're most likely right - if i were a kid now, i probably wouldn't be making this distinction.

It's a comic book from 1992 where Palpatine comes back as a clone. It's the only non-movie Star Wars thing I've read besides this pair of Han Solo/Lando books from 1981 or so.

i don't know if that's cynical or sincere, but i prefer the puppets and masks. CGI might be okay for backgrounds, landscapes, filling in scenes, etc....but CGI characters really leave me feeling cold.
