Baseball-steroids scandal - what ya think ??? Just curious what you intelligent orgers think ???
I loved baseball when i was younger ... the whole history of it ... the famous legends ... Gehrig ... Ruth .... Dimaggio ... Aaron ... Grew up watching Aaron , Schmidt, Rose ... etc ... Was a die hard fan ... then they went on strike ... and i lost some interest, i admit ... Now- reading about the Steroids, etc ... just totally saddens me ... i think they have ruined the sport ... i think they should have a truly NO TOLERANCE ... if someone used Steroids ... they should be not allowed ... to count any of their records , etc ... Macquire, Sosa , Bonds ... watch out if I was commissioner ... any comments ??? any BB fans here ??? (not basketball ... thats another topic) ...

I agree,
It's a shame there isn't more steriods - why should some people get the benefit when others don't?

... and i admit ... i was starting to get into baseball somewhat again ... went to spring training the other year ... and felt like "wow , this is really the love of the game" ....
but now ... this whole thing just sours it ... especially for the high school players , etc ... the kids ...

with ya all the way, man. Fair's fair - some people are always going to get away with it, so the only answer is to make everyone take them. That's an interesting theory of yours - i'm not sure i totally agree, but i certainly think it's worth a trial run.

...so you think the answer is that everyone should be able to take them ...
my problem with that is --- that will just entice younger people will see 'its ok to take em .. ' ... which ... we know is not good ... i saw somethin on steroids/baseball ... on the news, etc... and it made me think aboout it alot today ... apparently ... they CAN TEST ... as in the olympic athletes ... so they could do it ... so noone could get away with it ... as i understand it .... BUT the players union is so strong ... that they made sure that they DID NOT get tested ... years back ... or ... they only get tested in the off-season ... or somethin like that ... its really a sad deal ... cus i admit ... i dont even wanna watch it .... makes it more like wrassling !

I think people should just accept the use of anabolic steroids in all sports. They're there anyway and will never go away either. Folks want to see superhuman achievements but expect the guys to stay clean. Come on now.

except chess, maybe. That sport should be kept totally drug-free.

After the Olympics this last year, I was reading that they expect genetic doping to be all the rage by the time it (the summer Olympics) rolls around again. They indicated that they couldn’t be sure testing procedures would be available in time for proper regulation and testing.
It’s interesting…just like nearly every other type of illegality, and the policing agencies are always reactionary in their pursuit. Baseball is full of two-faced players, condemning steroids publicly, while injecting themselves in the back room. Either don’t allow these *enhancements* at all, with career ending penalties.. Or… Let everyone. Part of the sport becomes the building of a better player. The new heroes of baseball would be Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, and Sanofi-Aventis. Why not?

As long as use/possession of these performance enhancing drugs is illegal they have no choice but to condemn them. Then there's also the fact that the general public actually has no idea what (A)AS are, yet they're against athletes using them, so sponsors don't want their athletes mentioning them either. Steroids are performance enhancing, but using them won't automatically make you a good player.

No it won't make you a better player. Nor does the performance of the tire make the NASCAR athlete a better driver. The body and mind are components in the performance of the player. Does it make you a better player?—Maybe you should ask if it givers you an edge over the player that isn’t taking them. (People in the know, are betting that it does.) [Edited 3/17/05 10:47am]

[Edited 3/17/05 10:47am] It can, but they are not magic pills or magic injections, that's all I'm saying. A lot of people think that just by taking steroids you will put on all this muscle mass, give you incredible stamina or improve strength drastically. I was just responding to the "new heroes of baseball" comment you made. It's not quite that simple.
