look man, you go through life cuz you have to... its what you do in it that defines whether you enjoy it or not. you have to find a way to leave a mark here on earth, something that says you were here, you lived, you loved, you embraced your surroundings, and you had a good time. for some, thats having a family, for some its their job, for some its through music - art - movies - poetry - whatever their talent is. for others its as simple as being remembered as a loving soul... one that was always there for the folks around them, took the time to smile at a small child, passed on some sort of wisdom, or stood firmly for what they believed in..

My life has recently become mundane. I'm going through it.I've taken mini vacations and had a blast but when I came back it was back to the same. I don't know what to do about it either. I feel like "what the hell am I supposed to be doing in life" I'm almost 40 so it's a big question and I feel like I'm running out of time.

If there's no "purpose" in life, then I guess it just comes down to pleasure. Finding as much of it as you can before you die.
I don't believe in an inherent purpose in life. In my mind, life is what you make it. If you choose to give your life a purpose, then whatever it means to you is that purpose. Could be your attempts at saving the rainforest, could be raising a family, could be a lot of things. If you choose to not give your life a purpose, then I would guess you'd just look for what makes you feel good. And get as much of that before you die. |
