So she denied everything! And last night she woke me up at 12:30 am and didn't stop banging until 6AM!!! I called the landlord, fuck this shit. He was very cool about it and is calling her tonight.

The bomb has dropped!!

See, in instances like that....where I've tried to be nice and then they become spiteful.....things get ugly.

And I wonder why I'm single.

Still bitter that we are the defending world champions, huh? lol

I like to try to do things the nice way the first time. You can work with me and everything will be fine. Work against me and I"ll be your worst nightmare. Now the landlord is aware she has a dog that isn't supposed to be there and it was sooooo quiet last night!!! biggrin If she keeps it up, next time she'll get black dye in the washing machine when she's doing clothes!

If it wasn't illegal and I'd most likely end up in jail I'd kill my neighbours instantly without any further thought whether it would be ethically wrong or not. I don't think anyone has a worse situation with neighbours than I do. In fact, it's 6:40PM and I am killing off time at the University, because I don't want to go home. That's always the worst sign, you don't want to go to your own home.

That SUCKS. And you shouldn't have to feel that way, not when you're also paying rent. They do make you go crazy though, i had thoughts of killing her the other night.

I hate that. When you try and work together so that the landlord doesn't need to be involved and they turn around and deny it and keep doing it. Hope it all turns out okay for you and doesn't develop into a huge problem.

I had to go down and talk to my neighbor a few weeks ago. He physically abuses his girlfriend and they throw each other against the walls so hard that my pictures have fallen down. My daughter heard them not too long before that and I had to try and answer her questions, just saying they were moving furniture and dropped things. Never called the cops on them, never complained to the landlord, only stomped hard on the floor when she'd hear it. But, it came down to my having to speak to him, which, must have worked because they haven't done it since.

Congrats on the apartment, Carrie!

Thanks Azure! So far so good since I spoke with the landlord. If she were below me it would be easy to stomp on the floor to make her stop, but she's above me. And the ceilings are like 20 feet high, I can barely tap a broom on the ceiling!!! Hopefully she'll settle down now!! I think I'm gonna hang an upside down cross on my door so people will think I'm crazy and leave me alone.

I would love to have ceilings that high!

Do the upside-down cross thing. That way we can hear stories how your neighbors won't even look at you when in passing. Or, maybe you'll recieve a lot of bibles at your door.

To be perfectly honest Carrie, she probably felt like you had no right to come at her in any form with you being the newbie. I have lived in my apartment for five years. I have kids, one of them disabled, and my neighbors were all made aware of this fact. They know my son is not aware of the noise he makes and what hours of the night he makes them, but it doesn't stop them from banging on the walls or the floors or turning up their music to try and drwon him out.

Mind you, I never complain once about the noise level they have at all hours, not to mention the night one of their roommates tried to kick their front door in.

I cannot wait to get my own house.

i can appreciate your situation, but disagree that carrie has no rights being the newbie. that being said, it's always good to ask who you will have for neighbors so you know what you will be dealing with.

personally i don't mind some noise once in a while because it's give and take - if i tolerate you then it's only fair for you to tolerate me.

however, carrie tried the polite way by letting the other girl know that it was too much. would it have been better to wait till she was so fed up with the noise that she pounded like a maniac on her door one night? that reaction would have come out of the blue for the girl upstairs.

carrie tried to keep it between the two of them, but the girl's response indicated an unwillingness to be reasonable. i'm sure carrie would have been willing to put up with some disturbance, just not the level that she experienced.

as an aside... i have been the victim of the newbie. the bitch couldn't read the parking stall numbers. i had been there three years and she hadn't even been there three days. she didn't bother to leave a note on the car or knock on apartment doors. she called a tow truck.

i was frantic thinking my car had been stolen. she was entirely in the wrong and it still gets my back up thinking about it. i wish i had gotten it off my chest. and i was out the $40 in taxi fares too because i was too upset to remember to ask for receipts.

I feel for you, CarrieLee. There's a woman directly beneath me who's an opera singer and she practices at random times throughout the day. I play my music at a healthy volume, so if she ever tries to complain, I'll have ammunition! cool

Sorry to hear about your disabled son, that's gotta be rough. I hate when people bang on the walls and/or the floor when they think you're being too noisy. The bitch downstairs has done that to me several times, and it pisses me off royally. My opinion is, if the two parties involved in a noise dispute are both adults, then they both should be able to talk the issue out and resolve it in a diplomatic way. Banging on the floor or wall like a kook because a neighbor thinks that will stop the noise from happening does not help the situation, it only escalates it and makes it worse IMHO.

I can't wait to get my own house too, I've lived here for 16 years and I hate it. It's so damn ghetto anymore, between the maintenance fee (which is sky high), the property taxes, and just the general bullshit that goes on here. I need to get a place of my own with my own driveway, garage, washer/dryer, etc. (you get the picture).
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Fuck that, she's new too. She's only been there a month or two before me. The girl that lived in my place was too scared to keep complaining about her. I'm not. It's been better though, there hasn't been much noise late at night. Just real early in the morning but I can fall right back to sleep. I'm not gonna let someone step all over me cuz I'm "new"!
