Is it ever tough being gay?

Cause sometimes it's tough being straight. I'm back in a long-term relationship with my once ex-girlfriend....I'm in Sydney Australia and she's in Portland Oregon. Life's a bitch.

Yeah, but if you're gay, is there a lot that gets to you about your orientation....like prejudice, etc? Just wondering....maybe becoming gay would make life easier. Even though I am straight as an arrow.

Feminists would proberly argue that being gay is less confusing then being straight in these days. The modern straight man is said to be confused about whether to be sensitive or macho.

I understand you are in your 'confused' period. I mean, not liking Franz Ferdinand already shows you are on shaky ground.

Have you considered therapy? Electro shock treatment is quite the rave of late!

Anyways. What HowComeYouDontCalleme said. Listen to that. Were very wise words. Let me just ad WHAT THE FUCK DOES BEING GAY HAVE TO DO WITH SOMEONE BEING IN A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP?

Absolutely nuffing, I tell you.

He's gay. But, to answer his comment, if you're in America, being gay probably isn't the most fun thing in the world to be.

thankyou for answering my question. smile

now i would like to point out a few things to everyone on this thread:

1) I am not gay. I don't have a lot of male friends lately, so maybe I'm trying to get in touch with my masculine side...I'm not attracted to men, but I probably need more of their company.

2) Being gay doesn't have anything to do with being in a long distance relationship. That is true. I just simply wanted to know if being gay was tough or not sometimes. My long distance relationship problem was just an aside, really. I apologise for starting such a weird thread. However...

3) I am not "very weird".

I think the prejudice surrounding being a homosexual is enough evidence to say it is harder being gay than it is to be straight.
True both straight and gay people have to deal with crappy relationships and heartbreak yada yada yada.....

But living in Canada where gay marriage is legal and we are a very liberal society apparently, a homosexual man can not even hold his boyfriend's hand without getting dirty looks.
One cannot make public displays of affection like a straight couple can. Well they can, but again people will give you dirty looks. It makes one feel unaccepted and very low.....

Cool. The only cartoons I know are canadian are the raccoons and "rock and rule". Anyone heard of any of those? "rock and rule" is a 80's cartoon feature.

You know, I often hear women say, "oh, if only I were a lesbian" like they'd have it so much easier on the relationship front, not dealing with men. That's a bunch of BS. I think relationships have their problems whether gay, straight, what have you. There's no real way to definitively determine which is the "easiest" route to go.

As for if gay men have problems in this world, I'm sorry, but do you have your head up your ass? There is still a very real hatred toward gay people in this world, as evidenced by everything from not being able to be married legally (in most parts of the world) to downright violence (and no, I don't even have to reference Matthew Shepard, I have friends of my own who have been attacked and feared for their lives).

I also dislike how "gay" has turned into an adjective

i.e: "that looks so gay....."

and the bad thing is that little kids say things like that, so they'll grow up to have no tolerance for homosexuality. Of course not in all cases, but in a lot.

what i really disliked when going to high school were the guys who would say stupid shit like "lesbians are hot, but gay people shouldn't be allowed."
Talk about contradictions.... oh well
