i'm not sure about that. i would think you could set the default from automatically updating your ipod with new music to manually updating your ipod with new music. that way you would be able to control what songs get uploaded to which ipod. i've never actually tried to do something like this so don't quote me on it.

seems silly i have an uncle and aunt whom want one each. As they are not really computer literate it would be hard to explain and make them be able to use the non automatic updating options. I thought that maybe you could just have two versions of itunes on different drives?

Of course it's possible - it would silly if not. I do it all the time.

You've got two options:

1) Keep the iPods in autosync mode and use two different user accounts on the same computer. Each person can then run itunes with totally different songs so problem.

2) Use the same user account on the computer, with all the songs in the same copy of itunes. In iTunes, set up your iPod options to manually transfer tracks over to iTunes (auto sync off). Then you can simply connect either iPod and manually drag over the tunes you want to the iPod.

You may even be able to set up a separate playlist in iTunes that will autosync to differing iPods, but I haven't ever tried that so I don't know for sure.

i think that turning off autosync would not be an option for them they wouldn't have a clue how to work it!
the same goes for two user accounts on the computer, they are so scared of their computer that they would panic with this!

would two different drives work? so i could have two icons on the desktop iTunesA and iTunesB one for each iPod?

perhaps its time they learned a little about their computer's performance possibilities?
