basically, the companies that offer the offers pick up the cost of the ipod because it's money well spent. It's a more direct form of marketing than something mass, like say commercials. There is more a chance that you will use their products this way, so the money is well spent in their eyes.

In all honesty, we should all do this, everyone could have one if people just spent 7 bucks each. It sounds like a scheme, but it's not. I'm going to post pictures when I get mine!!
