I haven't seen all of them, but out of the ones I've seen I would recommend (or buy myself if I had the money)

The godfather (classic one)

One flew over the cuckoo's nest (funny and painful)

Cidade de Deus (the best movie I saw last year. Deep, vivid and great funk-soundtrack...and such a sweet language lick)

Pulp fiction (I think the film gets hyped too much, but I have to admit it's a good one)

American Beauty (long time ago, I really like it...but I don't think I would want this one on dvd)

Are you asking me about the Cidade de Deus-soundtrack? In case you are, no, I' don't have the tracklist, but I guess it's pretty easy to find on the net !

Among those on ur list:
Star Wars Trilogy (clearly a must-have)
Raging Bull (same)
Indiana Jones Trilogy (same)
Do The Right Thing (one of the very, very, very best flicks of all time)
Pulp Fiction
A Soldiers Story (a great "morality play")
Dog Day Afternoon
Chappelle's Show Season 2 (the funniest season of any show, period)
The Usual Suspects
One Flew Over The Cukoos Nest
The Godfather (the greatest movie of all time)
I'd also recommend: --Casablanca--Malcolm X--Goodfellas--The Fifth Element (a great DVD movie)--Friday--Superman (a superb DVD)--The Lion In Winter--Elizabeth
--Kill Bill I and II--Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon--Hero--Elizabeth--High Fidelity

to name but a few.

I have the extended versions of each and they are great.

The Two Towers is my favorite. What is it about the great trilogies that the second movie shines the brightest? Godfather II, ESB, LOTR:TTT, etc.

yea I know I like sequels too. I might as well get the Godfather Collection since they're not selling the 2nd one seperately right now plus I like the way it is packaged. I also like the way the artwork on the LOTR Special Edition sets

hmm, I think most people would say ROTK is the best LOTR movie.

True. Can't argue with an Oscar-winner. But I thought there was a lot more heart in TTT.

really? to me (and I think many others), ROTK is clearly the most emotional of all three.

I don't think I can give you a top 10, but "Amadeus" and "Do The Right Thing" are definitely my favorites.

I see in the three storylines of TTT a common thread: crisis, perseverance, and then uncertainty met with resolve. I know I'm in the minority tho.

It all really depends on price. For newer movies like "Dynamite" and "Collateral", you can't beat the used prices at Blockbuster or Hollywood (and make sure to check out their deals if you buy two or three...great movies for ten dollars or less). Of those you listed, here are my picks:

Chapplle Show Season 1
Sanford & Son Season 1
Raging Bull
Napoleon Dynamite
The Breakfast Club
The Jeffersons Season 1
Pulp Fiction
Coffy
One Flew Over The Cukoos Nest
The Godfather

Looking at your tastes, I'd also suggest "Jackie Brown", "What's Happening 1 or 2", "Kill Bill 1 and/or 2" ($9.99 at Circuit City this week...I could kick myself since I bought the second when it came out and still haven't opened it!).

It's cheaper at Hollywood Hits right? Do you know how much they're selling it for?
