I think you answered your own question, really, Red - it comes down to jealousy and feeling threatened. Simple as that.

Now, you gonna get 'em out, love, or what, nudge nudge, know-worramean?

Fauxie

I have a homely woman. nod

It wouldn't make any sense for her to work, either financially or in respect to the time and effort involved. But then again, neither of us really work. We're but a couple of scruffy beggars. shrug

A man with enough self confidence?

But honestly, some men want their women who stay at home all day, so they know exactly where she is..

My wife takes pride in being a good housewife. There's no shame in it. She approaches every task with the same conviction, be it washing and ironing, cooking, discussing our finances or looking after our nephew. Every task should be approached the same way.

Sweeping generalizations never get you anywhere. There are always exceptions.
That said, I've no idea where the majority of men fall on this issue, though the optimist in me feels that way of thinking is largely in the past. The main thing to keep in mind is any man who can't be happy and share in and support your goals in life (whatever they may be) isn't worth your time. It's that simple.

tackam

I'm fairly certain that most men aren't into "homely" women. wink

Most people my age (25) expect that women will have jobs and take care of themselves. It never really occured to me growing up that I could be a housewife, even though my mom didn't work outside the home for most of my childhood. For the last few months I've BEEN one, and I pretty much hate it and am terrible at it. I'll hopefully be back at work very soon, and I'll be the primary breadwinner at that point, which my husband and I are both happy about. shrug

I have never been able to understand people who
wrap their life around work.

Some haven't much choice. lips

I mean the ones who have a choice (such as wife working)
or the ones who don't need money for the lifestyle they lead, the money sits in a bank and they pour every waking moment into work.

The work I am in has certain demands, so I cant help being wrapped up in my work, plus its a career of my choice which I do love and am passionate about.

Apart from that, it pays my bills and my mortgage.. nobody else does that for me..
