See,in the UK drunk driving is really frowned upon but it seems to me when you watch American shows like Cops and Worlds Wildest Chases and stuff like that, they seem to turn it into something to laugh at.
Fair enough road-side sobriety tests can be amusing but surely no-ones going to laugh when someone dies at the hands of a drunk driver.

think about it EmeraldCity i hope you have learned a valuable lesson.

Helpful responses guys. Do you feel better about yourselves? Yeah, she made a mistake, but do you need to crucify her? (lammastide excluded)

Did you take a breathalizer?? If you didn't then hire a lawyer. It's gonna cost you about 5 grand when all is said and done. I have two friends that have beaten their cases because they didn't take the breathalizer.

I hope you learned your lesson.

I am not condoning her behavior. I just don't see what good it does to call her stupid, expressly withold pitty and scold her like a child, other than make the posters feel self righteous.

self righteous? If I only could.....due to alcohol in traffic a good friend lost his life some years ago (he wasn’t the one one who was driving!), and only 1.5 year ago another friend lost her leg because of some drunk fucker behind the wheel. And in both cases what did the one who caused it get? A fine and the license was revoked..if I could only be self-righteous.

Like I told Emeraldcity, things could have been worse. I hope she learns from it while concerning about getting a lawyer or not...my friend didn’t get the opportunity of getting a lawyer!!!!

a life long friend of mine lost his new wife and their 3 week old baby to a "barely" drunk driver who thought they could handle the drive home ...

pretty damn simple... DONT drink and DRIVE folks

Step up and take responsibility. You should not have been drinking and driving in the first place so go in, plead guilty, face the consequences and be grateful you did not kill or injure anyone.

And go get whatever help you need so you don’t do this again.

I hate to say I agree..but just face the music. If you did it, just get a lawyer to help guide you through the process.

We all make mistakes so just learn the lesson and move on. This isn't one that needs to be repeated.

You can get a dui from drinking 2 beers or wine. Now I don't know about you guys, but I'm completely sober after 2 beers and yet I could still fail a breathalizer.

Emerald if you were shitfaced and got pulled over then face the music. If you weren't then fight it. It will cost you some loot but it will be worth it.

You may think you are but your nervous system and reaction times are definitely impaired. The Breathalyzer standards are there for a reason.

From what my impression of the UK is there are more bars in walking distance, and people are more likely to go to one socially every day to have one or two. Here we would tell a person that going to a bar everyday means they have a problem, instead they should wait until the weekend, drive some distance away and drink themselves drunk.

totally off topic but.....

regardless to what you think british drink culture is it is healthier to have 1-2 drinks a day than to binge drink of a weekend. 1 or 2 units of alcohol a day can help prevent heart attacks especially when consuming red wine, but as alcohol has a blood thinning property it can help, it's drinking to excess that causes the problems

sorry

just felt the need
