Any Wrestling Fans Looking Forward To Wrestlemania XXI? Just wondering if any wrestling fans here are looking forward to the 21st Wrestlemania. I'm not to hyped about it myself, the only macthes that intrest me are:
Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle HHH vs Batista Randy Orton vs The Undertaker plus the fact that Hulk Hogan (my favorite wrestler of all time) is getting inducted into the hall of fame.

I love wrestling. Too bad Shawn Michaels is pretty much a cripple now. I would have loved to have see him wrestle when he was still in shape.
Triple H vs Batista will probably a slow match. Just a brawl with Trips blading himself to death as usual. That dude is always bleeding on PPV's. Anyway, no matter what matches there are I'm always looking forward to WM, just for the overal entertainment.

Movies are not like reality either, neither is a fucking ballet or a play. Besides it's a lot less choreographed than people think it is.

With the results being predetermined, what room is left for unchoreographed wrestling? I mean, really?

I only said what I said cos my Grandmas cousin was a famous wrestler in the 60s and 70s.. it was more real gritty, proper spontaneous wrestling than what is going on today, thats all..

First of all, results are not always predetermined. Secondly I can assure you none of it is as easy as it seems. If the other person calls the move only seconds before it's performed you better know what to do or it will look like shit and people will get hurt. You can put two great wrestlers in the dressing room a few minutes before a match and they'll come up with 15 mins worth of entertainment and a lot of moves. There's a reason why some of the best pro-wrestlers have an amateur background. Kurt Angle is an Olympic gold medalist, Brock Lesnar a 5 time NAAC champion, Shelton Benjamin, Brock's former team mate and coach, Charlie Haas former state champion and there's a few more with perhaps less impressive records, but a background in amateur wrestling nonetheless.

No it wasn't, but it doesn't matter. People went to go see them to be entertained and that's what the guys in the ring gave them.

Oh, I never think it's easy. The athleticism is pretty damn impressive and I do recognise that some of the injuries are real. They're like athletes and stunt men rolled into one. I just doubt the spontaneity of it all. I find it very unlikely that this multi-million dollar industry would put that much freedom in the hands of its employees. It all seems extremely controlled and contrived right down to the smallest details. edit: Hang on. Results not always predetermined, but wrestlers kindly telling their opponent what move they are about to perform on them? There's a contradiction there. If the moves are carefully choreographed, be they executed somewhat spontaneously or not, how could the result not be pre-conceived? ... [Edited 3/7/05 4:59am]

When people do that it ends up looking like shit, because there's no way in hell you can remember all the moves you're supposed to do in a 15-20 min match. Pro-wrestling is much bigger than just the two shows per week the WWE tapes. There's a lot of freedom and input for some of the guys, but it all depends on status and how much ass you're willing to kiss. In that regard it's no different than any other business.

They must all be hoping to be the chosen ones that the bigwigs think have the personality that'll catch on. Meanwhile u get the guys with normal names who come on without fancy costumes, called Travis Smith or something wearing just briefs who are simply fodder.
