And if you read the opening of the thread, there are questions ASKING Orgers how they feel and I can't see he is accusing everyone here. Maybe you are taking this too personal Ariel, so maybe you fall into the catagory this thread is about. and as a discussion, why the fuck does everyone have to get so personal? Some Orgers have agreed, others indifferent, others totally disagree, so please stop pointing the finger, cant you just post your opinion without starting up some shit? Sometimes its like a popularity contest here and everyone has to be nice or friends with everyone and will fall over backwards to be in this clique or that clique.. which usually ends up them back stabbing their *original Org friends* to be in the newest circle.
I have seen this happen, now I dont really care. I know who my friends are here, I know who I trust, its just a shame some people havent the backbone to speak their minds here and be genuine. if sexy was a colour it would be red | |

You'd think some people over here are the reincarnation of Mother Theresa. I'm not saying you can't be nice to people, but dayum...some just overdo it which makes it look incredibly fake to me. This doesn't look like a question to me. but pure judging of others. Yes, I fall into the category of people who care. Even if I've never met them face to face. You SHOULD know that, since I cared for you too.

I actually find this quite ironic. I'm not accepting others? Of course I do. I accept some are goody goody people and I'm not. That doesn't mean I have to like it, now does it? It seems to me like you and a few others here don't accept my opinion. As for using the "alias", there's a perfectly logical explanation for that which has absolutely nothing to do with me trying to hide my identity because I wanted to "judge" others. People I talk to regularly know why that is and people who have known me for years know exactly how I feel about the subject. I've even written about it on AMP a million times and I have also addressed it on this site a few times. The reason why I don't use my first name on here is because I simply don't like it which people who are close to me know. I prefer them not calling me by that name and they respect that. Besides, pretty much everyone on this site is using a nickname, but supposedly only in my case there's more behind it? Get real. My full name including alias have been published in a few articles which include commentaries, interviews and poetry. Anyone who has ever emailed me knows my real name as well. Hell, you seem to know my name and I don't recall me ever telling you. As far as being smart, trust me, there's nothing wrong with my intelligence. In fact, it's rather silly to say this is an intelligence issue. That has nothing to do with it. Actually lack of empathy seems to be more prevalant in individuals with a higher IQ...but again, that's not what this is about. No doubt some of the getalong gang are actually quite intelligent individuals. Having said that, I do care about people. I just don't particularly care about someone I don't know (well). This is not just about that, it's also about people pretending to care. If it's genuine, cool. I still don't understand it, but there's a lot I don't understand. Anything else, even if it's with the best intentions I don't like. My thought on this, if you don't have anything sincere to say, don't say anything at all. Edit: typo [Edited 3/4/05 7:40am] | |

While I don't know who this person is, (I thought it was Joey, whom I do like, btw) I respect his opinion on the subject even thought I don't agree with it. It is sometimes very hard to express to people in your real life what you are going through and the internet can sometimes be a place to get some objectivity. To answer your question, animal, yes I do pray for people I do not know and many times things I read here bring me to tears. On the flip side of that, people also shit on people who post personal things here, which I think is pretty sad as I feel people would not say such things to people's faces. I rather have those folks skip over the threads then belittle or try to make someone feel bad for sharing. We may be all that person has. My two cents.

Coming from the ex-emoticon queen... a couple of years ago I use to post all the smiley's, flowers and so forth... it make several (if not more) Heh, totally sick, nautious... annoyed. Oh well... although I did post with true happiness, seeing all the beauty before me (la, la, la). I know many took it their own way... while many continously shared (with me) how grateful they were to see my positivity... yet I am far from perfect (believe it everyone ). I get annoyed, impatient and quick to "assume" just like everyone else, although... I rarely ever put more energy than a nano second into a silly assumption. It is true... we don't know "the truth" and perhaps it is not meant for us to know "the truth" anyhow... so be it.
Now for the hugs and well wishes... I can honestly say... I send them to the ones I have grown to know over the past couple or more years here. Yes, I have met many in person... and the relationship I have developed (starting from here) only continues to grow, it truly is beautiful... that is the main reason I continue to come to the org. Aside from all the silliness and really (no interest) threads, many I know are here... and still to this day, the beauty of connecting with a new soul (or a previous acquainted soul, maybe misunderstood (etc)) still happens continously. I love the beauty of discovery... life and all that life moments can bring. I am a geek for that... and a dork 100%. As for the emoticons... truthfully, if I know the person... I do find it hard to use a hugging emoticon that smiles (and kinda corny)... when a family member is ill or has even passed. What a difficult moment... and even while the emoticon may signify condolences, I still find it a bit shallow to use... that is just how I feel. To me... I truly find words empowering... many here know... and today I find (believe it or not) emoticon usage just a bit ridiculous, and yes that is coming from the once emoticon using queen. Funny threads are the place I tend to use them more... if I ever feel there is anything worth being funny about. Plus... I am only funny with the people I know here, there are too many emotions (worldwide) here and I truly like to respect others for the soul that they are, even if I don't agree with their approach here. I tend to look for the inspirational moments... and yes, if one cares to seek... one shall find. 
... anyways... I do see what you are saying or...better, I can relate in my own mind. I was one of them!

Bingo. I happen to agree with this. It's not that intelligent people are less empathetic. It's just that they're more logical in their thought processes. Logic and extreme emotion do not go together. I'm not mentioning any names, but there is a certain person here who thrives on emotion and sympathy a little damn too much, and I find it to be pretty pathetic. But that's just my opinion. | |
