I'm a PROFESSIONAL!

So, I've been laying pretty low around here lately. Just a refresher, I finally completed my bachelor's degree in Social Work last June. Since that time, I procrastinated real well on taking my licensure exam.

Well, a few months ago I got off my ass and finally registered for the exam. I then spent the last month brushing-up on the exam material. Of course, I'm hyper neurotic about exams and tend to overprepare. Anyways, I reread a few of my texbooks and just stayed focused on that (hence my minimal trips to the Org).

Anyways, I took my exam today. 2+ hours and 170 questions later, and I PASSED. My "score" was 93, only 75 was needed to pass. So, once again I prolly overstudied a bit. But whatevs.

So, as of today I am actually a licensed professional! (Well, basically- the state board has to 'certify' the results and send me my certificate in the next few weeks.)

What does this mean? In some ways not much. I will not be looking for a new job as I love my job. I won't be getting a raise. yadda yadda

But, I will be more marketable when the day comes for me to get a new job! I will get new business cards that say "Darin Rowles, LSW". I will KNOW that I am 'officially licensed.' Lastly I will (hopefully) get a bit more respect when dealing with other professionals. Social Workers tend to be on the bottom of the totem pole when dealing with some docs, psychiatrists, psychologists. The three little letter behind my name will give me some legitimacy when dealing with those folks.

Anywho. I CAN BREATHE AGAIN! woot!

And, more importantly, I can get back to some orging mr.green

ps- grouphug to all who've sent me words of encouragement along the way. It helped! nod

It'd be cool if you were a Professional in the Jean Reno sense of the word, because then I'd be able to say I know a highly skilled french assassin.

But you know what? This is fantastic too! Congratulations!

Congratulations, Darin! This is a very big deal. I didn't know until today that you took the test. I knew it was coming up, I just didn't know when. Either way...woot! You know you're a great social worker anyway, but now you're official. razz
