Because it is so goddamn disgusting. ...oh, and also because it is a by-product of the beer-brewing process, so in countries where they don't drink beer/ they don't brew it in the same way, they don't get the same by-products. Well, YOU asked

I love Marmite. I just had some on my breakfast toast!
It's an acquired taste, I admit, but once you've got it you're never gonna want to do without! "yeast" -> and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

hang on. Marmite is a yeast based compound, which is an extract from fermented vegetables. it's nothing to do with beer brewing or being a by-product of that. or do they use some of the yeast from beer-brewing as a katalyst to get the fermenting going in the vegetables?? and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I grew up on it as a kid, and I still love it on my toast, particularly brown wholewheat bread!!! I also cook with it as well for extra flavour!!

Yup, they use the yeast gunk from the brewing The UK Marmite factory is very close to the Bass brewery in Burton, I believe, for this very reason. Either way, it is icky, yucky cack that I wouldn't wanna use to waterproof a barge, never mind EAT

ah, but have you ever tried it in a soup or a sauce? it makes it taste a gazillion times better. sure, I can see why people would not like it just pure on their toast but worked into a dish to add some flavor, it tastes very yummie and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Is it a bit like adding an Oxo cube to a meal during cooking?

yup, but it's better than an oxo cube. especially in sauces for meat it tastes absolutely fingerlicking good. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

BTW at Yeasttooth | |
