I'm not sure how the DJs do it, but I would think that the format would have to be MP3 to fit a lot of songs on because WAV files are too huge to be doing something like that. So, I'm guessing MP3s and a decent sized hard drive to store them all onto. Laptops nowadays should have enough disk space to accomplish this.

That's what my computer is- a jukebox. I've got 1,103 complete albums stored on my harddrive. I've got the computer conceted to my stereo. Having my entire music collection on my computer is great for parties- all the music is at your fingertips.

pop the cd in your drive and extract the tracks. won't cost anything.

HEY! All my grandparents are dead! mad

wink heheh...well, they really are, but anyway....

All you need is a CD drive on your laptop and a program to extract the music off of them. Go to download.com and see what they have there. I use a program called CDex, myself.

My files are stored on an external harddrive (as MP3s @ 192kbs)- so I can unplug it and take it anywhere. You could do the same with a laptop.

lurking some of you here may have seen the inside of my harddrive lurking
