I AM BABYSITTING MY NIECE!! For the first time, I am babysitting my niece. She is now 3 months old, and I am the proudest aunt babysitter EVER! I have been given multiple instructions on how to act if she does this, that and everything in between. She's SUPPOSED to just be sleeping and maybe eating, but so far it's been 2 hours of and a bit of cos she lost the pacifier once. I almost wish she'd wake up now so I can feed her
Do you babysit for your niece or nephew?

nieces or nephews are great preparation for parenthood. if one is considering it. the great thing about nieces and nephews is you can always give them back to mummy and daddy when the act up. by the way congratulations on your new niece.

Thanks and NO I am not considering parenthood, but I love Tyra to death and I'd do ANYTHING for her.... until she needs to go back to her mom or dad

WTG Jen!!! just wait until she starts eating pablum...then the real fun begins (sincerely)... I had the best time ever feeding my niece... whenever she'd get cranky and wouldn't eat, I'd eat it right in front of her......she'd get this crazy pout goin', give in, and start eating...so damned cute...

I babysit my nephew. I once lost his soul down the back of the sofa though. We were playing necromancy.

Ex-Moderator | I have a niece who's 14, a niece who's 3, a nephew who is one and there's another one on the way. I don't babysit when they're that young cause I'm just not that into babies (I always think I'm gonna break them or something), plus my brother lives about an hour away so it's just not all that convenient. However, I do plan special outings with my oldest niece now and again. My brother was quite young when she was born and he and my niece and her mother lived with my family for a few years when she was born and I was still in high school so we're quite close. Last thing we did was I had her down to spend the night in my apartment. We watched movies that she picked out and made hot fudge sundaes and then I took her shopping the next day. I keep thinking any day now she won't want to hang out with her lame old aunt cause she'll be a teenager who's way too cool for that but, bless her, it hasn't happened yet. In fact just a few months ago I went to her choir concert at school and after it was over she ran up and gave me a big hug and she was running around introducing me to all of her friends. Her mom told me I'm her favorite aunt. It's just so damn sweet. |

What did you use to get it out, a broom? Or did you just not bother?

[Edited 2/26/05 13:22pm] She was a darling, at 00.30 she woke up and was in a splendid mood, so for 2 hours we sang silly lala songs, watched tv (but when law and order came on I turned her around to face me, don't want her looking at crimey stuff ) and played the game when you clap your hands against each other (dunno what it's called in english). She enjoyed the hell outta that game Eventually I turned off all the lights and walked around with her in my arms, then she fell asleep. It went great! I love her sooooo much!

I'm not that into babies either but Tyra is special I wasn't afraid she'd break, but I keep having anxieties that accidents are gonna happen to her I used to hang with my cousin who's about 8 years younger than me, but now he grew up and just hangs with the boys Yay for fave aunties!

Good God Almighty NO!!!!
I was never allowed to babysit my niece when she was that young ... well, I never volunteered (I don't "do" poo!) ... so good luck! Now she's 10, I take her places instead ... we loved going to Lapland together and I'm hoping to take her to the Caribbean with me in a year or so to swim with dolphins and go whale watching. But, no, in all honesty, I couldn't be trusted with her when she was small. I'm just not good with babies (and poo/sick and all that mess).

...and I told you already...
that handclapping game is called "paddycake" ...no one listens to me until I'm right...

I bet she is getting prettier by the day!
When my nieces and nephews were babies, I loved babysitting them.. Now they are all adults. My GodDaughter is 15, and I am still freaked out by that...I still treat her like a baby! ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
