Because it is so goddamn disgusting.

barf

...oh, and also because it is a by-product of the beer-brewing process, so in countries where they don't drink beer/ they don't brew it in the same way, they don't get the same by-products.

shrug Well, YOU asked nod

I love Marmite. I just had some on my breakfast toast!

It's an acquired taste, I admit, but once you've got it
you're never gonna want to do without!

"yeast" -> drool

hang on. Marmite is a yeast based compound, which is an extract from
fermented vegetables. it's nothing to do with beer brewing or being
a by-product of that.

or do they use some of the yeast from beer-brewing as a katalyst to
get the fermenting going in the vegetables??

confuse

Yup, they use the yeast gunk from the brewing nod

The UK Marmite factory is very close to the Bass brewery in Burton, I believe, for this very reason.

ah, but have you ever tried it in a soup or a sauce?
it makes it taste a gazillion times better.

sure, I can see why people would not like it just
pure on their toast but worked into a dish to add
some flavor, it tastes very yummie

You know, you have caught me out there, I have NEVER tried it as a flavouring. Is it a bit like adding an Oxo cube to a meal during cooking?

it tastes absolutely fingerlicking good.

So, in answer to Jon's original question, Why Isn't Marmite a Global Phenomenon, the answer is simply:

Cos the young IstenSzek raided all the supplies and cleaned them out!
