Interestingly, she wasn't really known as the lady with the lamp either. That was something the newspapers made up cause it sounded more lady-like. She was known as the lady with the hammer cause she broke into a cabinet for morphine for a patient that she was denied access to from some general or something. Apparently that was just too butch.
