My Country; Juliette Binoche, Sam Jackson

I just saw a clip of an interview with STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL Juliette Binoche, one of my FAVORITE actresses whom I always forget to mention coz she is just so low-keyed. Anyway, she won an Oscarfor The English Patient((an AMAZING film), and she starred with Johnny Depp in Chocolat. Other Binoche movies that I have seen on Bravo were Bleu and its sequel Rouge. I also saw her in Wuthering Heights. The woman is just an very gifted actress.... just great. Anyway, she and Samuel L. Jackson are in a new movie called My Country. The plot sounds really interesting.

Here's a synopsis:

Preview
Starring Juliette Binoche and Samuel L. Jackson, In My Country tells the story of two people at odds with their identities. American journalist Langston Whitfield (Jackson) must travel to South Africa to cover the Truth and Reconciliation hearings, in which the perpetrators of murder and torture on both sides during the Apartheid era are invited to come forward and confront their victims. Whitfield is skeptical that the deep wounds of Apartheid can be so easily healed. While Whitfield attempts to penetrate the mind of a barbaric police colonel, Afrikaans poet Anna Malan (Binoche), a white South African who is also covering the hearings, is shattered to hear the atrocities committed by her fellow countrymen. Both Whitfield and Malan struggle to answer where do they each belong and how responsible are they for what is done in the name of their respective countries? In My Country is directed by John Boorman and is due to open in New York City and Los Angeles March 11th, 2005.

I hope it comes to Austin! Maybe we'll have a chance to see it at the SXSW film/music festival!
