So which one to pick? Study what you like, then find ways to use it... That’s a nice philosophy, I also agree with JD. Choose a language because the culture or language itself interests you. It will be easier to stick with it if you start from that angle. I really wanted to learn Japanese, but I am not getting very far very fast. I can get by in Italian but i learnt that to communicate with my wife’s family (and our children when they come  . I am not really a language person and Italian works for me.
