Date a Co-Worker? A co-worker is hitting on me. He seems nice, not bad looking, however I don't really want to be the subject of office gossip. What do you think about going out with co-workers? [Edited 2/25/05 16:15pm]

Anyway, he gave me his number. I don't think I going to call him, but what do I say to him on Monday?

Sorry about that. it doesn't really seem like a good idea. if things go wrong your job will be much more difficult to face afterwards. then again, it might work out fine and the two of you could live happily ever after. hows about a coin toss to settle the matter for once and for all? better yet, let's ask bob saget what HE would do

Thanks. I didn't like the idea of hiding under my desk if it didn't work out.

do it! it'll promote workplace gossip and then if you break up it'll make going to work really awkward for a long time! and if you have office christmas parties that involve drinking? LOOK OUT!!!
hey, it's better to regret something you HAVE done than something you HAVEN'T done, right?

Dating co-workers should be near the top of "Dating No-No's"...lol...It's never a good idea. I had the chance to go out with a co-worker a little over a year ago...very sweet, beautiful beyond belief...Sweeny kept trying to get me to ask her out... ...but besides the fact that there wasn't any real connection, the fact that she was a co-worker completely put it in the "No" column, didn't matter how attractive she was...

[Edited 2/25/05 16:15pm] I've done one office romance and it must be approached delicately and MATURELY..we kept it very low at work, noone knew we dated at all. But the rumor birds are always watching for abnormal behavior. It is bound to get out, just be adult about it. The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. -- Mark Twain.

Ex-Moderator | Just to play devil's advocate here...
I've dated a co-worker before and it was really no big deal at work. However, it's someone who I didn't work closely with, only crossed paths on occasion and we kept it very low profile while actually at work. Were it someone I had to work with on a daily basis, I don't think I'd have done it. Sure, when it was over there were a few awkward "hey"s in the hallway and whatnot but it really wasn't that bad. So it can be done, it's just all in how you approach it and if you think it's worth it. |

The issues of your relationship tend to find their way into your workplace far more often than not, one way or another... ...grammar edit. [Edited 2/26/05 7:43am]
